Kentucky State University was the location on December 10-11, 2013 for an historic visit by the SAP Black Employee Network and SAP University Alliances teams. KYSU, a Historical Black College and University (HBCU) is partnering with SAP to create a program to support the school and it's students with mentorship, engagement and software solutions. KYSU Dean Donna Covington and SAP Vice President Brian Reaves opened the Design Thinking Session which focused on HBCUs and their unique needs.
The session was led by Carly Cooper of SAP and included administrators, faculty and students. To familiarize all with the Design Thinking process, Carly required all teams to innovate a "new coat." Fun and learning about how to innovate dominated the introduction.
Faculty and administrators experience innovation and working in teams to develop a new product in preparation for analysis and design of a strategy for SAP to support HBCU students.
Danny Allen of the SAP Black Employee Network and Donna Covington of KYSU collaborated on a plan to provide the needed resources.
Tuskegee University's Jack Crumbly was an active participant and represented his school in the formulation of a plan to help educate bright students from HBCUs.
The session ended with an address from KYSU President Doctor Mary Sias and a ceremonial signing of the SAP University Alliances collaboration agreement.
