Growing momentum for SAP business rules

I recently visited Walldorf to talk business rules with some folks from SAP. My friend Carsten Ziegler, the man behind SAP's great ABAP rule engine BRFplus and the author of a book on that subject was my host and blogged about it Decision Management Systems: A Practical Guide to Using Business Rules and Predictive Analytics.

I got a chance to talk to a number of architects and developers and I was impressed by how much use of BRFplus and business rules is going on in the Business Suite. Replacing ABAP code with BRFplus rules makes for dramatic increases in agility and decision-making power in enterprise applications. The progress SAP is making with rules in its own applications as well as the energy in some companies for using BRFplus in their custom development was very encouraging.
