SAP Innovation Challenge for Mobile Manufacturing Solutions 2013

We did it again! The 2nd edition of the SAP Innovation Challenge for Mobile Manufacturing Solutions seems to be even more successful than last year! For those of you who are not familiar with this partner “contest”, here’s an overview what it’s all about:

SAP Partner companies were challenged to create the most valuable and inspiring mobile application for manufacturing scenarios. Out of many submissions 3 companies were invited to showcase their mobile solution at the SAPInsider conference in Las Vegas in March, 2013.

The 3 finalists were: Neoris, BrockSolutions and Wipro. They all showcased great mobile solutions live on stage at the SAPInsider conference making this session the greatest show in Las Vegas. The following solutions were presented:

Smart Visibility (by Neoris):

Comprehensive app for production managers & supervisors providing insights in ERP and shop floor data.

iManage (by BrockSolutions):

Mobile solution for predictive management of workforce and inventory

mShopFloor (by WIPRO):

Mobile Manufacturing Execution solution

Now it was up to the jury to select the overall winner of the SAP Innovation Challenge. The jury members were: Simon Jacobson (Gartner), Mike Lackey (SAP) and the 3rd member of the jury was the whole audience. So everyone in the jury was able to rate the demos according to the criteria: Business value, design and innovation. The voting procedure was facilitated by a webpage created and hosted in SAP MII. So after scanning a barcode with a smartphone, everyone in the audience could directly access this webpage.

At the end the final winner was a team from Neoris (Henry Costa) and Smart Visibility (Will Wilmot) that showed a very comprehensive mobile app for production supervisors and managers. They had a small lead over BrockSolutions who as well gave a great demo of their mobile solution that is already used productively.

Overall this session was very well received by the audience and showed in a great way the status quo and the future of mobile solutions in Manufacturing. Thus we are looking to extend this Innovation Challenge to other areas, like e.g. PLM, EAM, etc. as well next year and make it an even bigger show!

Best regards
