As mobility in the enterprise evolves, so does the challenge of building and maintaining a mobility infrastructure. Not long ago the infrastructure question was dominated by device management, security, app management, and controlling costs. Of course all these things are still incredibly important. However as mobility management tools have matured, and as mobility has spread through the enterprise, the focus has shifted more to building and maintaining large portfolios of apps that are secure, integrated, and capable of running on all those mobile devices found throughout the enterprise. This shift has occurred because it is the apps, and the ability to rapidly build news ones, that give the mobility infrastructure operational value to the business.

SAP’s mobile application development platform is now recognized by analysts as the leader in the ind.... There are a number of reasons for this, but from the developer’s perspective, there are several significant advantages provided by SAP’s development environment:

  • A container approach to app development which uses out-of-the-box native app containers to provide all the difficult device level API interfaces, back-end data connectivity and authentication, security management, and other house-keeping chores, and thereby freeing up developers to focus on business logic and user interface work.
  • A flexible development environment that supports developer’s choice of languages and third party development tools, whether that is C++, Javascript, HTML5, or cross platform development tools like Phonegap, Sencha, and Appcelerator that accelerate app development and produce apps totally compatible with SAP containers.
  • SAP’s app development platform is the only such platform that is totally integrated with an enterprise mobility management (EMM) solution, which means that not only does the platform accelerate the development of feature-rich mobile apps, but it simplifies their deployment and maintenance.
