It's finally here: the openSAP course ABAP Development for SAP HANA is just around the corner.

Advanced Business Application Programming or ABAP as its most commonly known was first created in the 1970’s and has been consistently optimized for business programming ever since. During the nineties, ABAP language became the basis of the entire R/3 system at SAP and in the late nineties was extended to become a fully featured object-oriented language.

SAP HANA was created just three short years ago and is an in-memory data platform that is deployable as an on-premise appliance, or in the cloud.  It is a revolutionary platform that’s best suited for performing real-time analytics, and developing and deploying real-time applications.

How do you bring both of these important elements together and develop for today’s enterprise solution requirements? What is important and necessary to know about ABAP development for SAP HANA?

openSAP invites you to join the free MOOC-style course, ABAP Development for SAP HANA. After completing the course, you will understand the important concepts in ABAP development for SAP HANA, how to detect and analyze the performance of your ABAP coding, and which features AS ABAP provides for database-oriented programming.

The course runs from September 25 for four weeks. For new users to openSAP, courses are delivered completely online and the content is released on a weekly basis. You can access the content through video lectures, presentations, and self-tests which are accessible to you at any time – , you  don’t need to logon at a specific time to gain the knowledge. If you have questions or would like to discuss the topic based on your experiences, you can join the openSAP discussion forum and collaborate with peers and SAP experts. To keep you motivated, you can earn a Record of Achievement through weekly assignments and a final exam. You must submit these elements before the weekly deadline to help encourage you to complete the content in a timely manner and avoid procrastination.

You will also have the opportunity to practice developing code in a test system environment. This practice will incur a small fee and details will be announced during the first week of the course. You can still successfully complete the course without developing your own code.
