After writing an article on the Top 10 SAP Human Capital Management (HCM) Articles of 2011and enjoying Mark Finnern’s Top 25 SCN Blogs of all Timeand The specified item was not found., I started to wonder what were the most popular articles of 2011. Special thanks to Gali Kling Schneider, Sylvia Santelli and Jason Lax for helping me get the metrics (as of Dec 27) which show the following 15 blogs captivated the SAP Community Network and have the title as the most popular and well read articles in 2011.

  1. Finding SAP HANA Documentation
Finding SAP HANA Documentation is a bit tricky and I thought it useful to collate available resources into one place. Hopefully this will assist people in the field, and also help SAP to think about where to focus effort.  By John Appleby (9229 page views)
  2. A Spotlight on the New .NET Connector 3.0
This weblog gives an introduction to the new .NET Connector 3.0 that has been released a few weeks ago. Reading it you will learn why the NCO 3.0 is an important step forward in terms of stability, robustness, and security and see how easy it is to set up connections between .NET applications and the ABAP world using the .NET connector 3.0 with its completely new architecture. 3. Next Generation ABAP Runtime  Analysis (SAT) – Introduction
SAT is the transaction name of the new ABAP Runtime Analysis Tool of the NetWeaver 7.0 EhP2. For those of you who are already familiar with the transaction SE30, the former ABAP Runtime Analysis Tool, transaction SAT is the successor of SE30. 4. Using Excel on HANA
From the very beginning, HANA has been shipped with an OLE DB for OLAP (ODBO) driver that allows ODBO enabled clients to connect and analyze analytic views in the HANA repository. Those analytic views are cubes that have been modeled with the HANA modeler (which is part of HANA studio). This blog provides some background and points to a nice demo video that has been created by our partners from Simba. 5. HANA and BW 7.30 - Part 1
Over the past few months, I've presented on this topic to many customers and colleagues in and outside Walldorf. As there seems to be such a high demand, I've decided to convert the underlying slide presentation into two blogs, with the first focusing on the motivation, scenarios and use cases while the second looks at the combination of HANA and BW from a technical angle. Before I start with the first blog please note that the usual disclaimer applies. Everything here has been announced at some SAP event. So I'm focusing on bringing pieces into context rather than revealing something that has not been known before. ByThomas Zurek (6178 page views)
  6. HANA and BW 7.30 - Part 2
Over the past few months, I've presented on this topic to many customers and colleagues. As there seems to be such a high demand, I've decided to convert the underlying slide presentation into two blogs, with the first focusing on the motivation, scenarios and use cases while the second looks at the combination of HANA and BW from a technical angle. Before I continue with the second blog please note that the usual disclaimer applies. By Thomas Zurek (6019 page views)
  7. How BW-on-HANA Combines With Native HANA
There is a lot of wild guessing on how to combine the native HANA tools and assets - like HANA modeler or SLT* - within a BW-based environment. Initially, one might assume a conflict between a completey managed table schema - as imposed by BW - and an arbitray table schema - as created by SLT, Data Services or any other tool. In this blog, I will indicate how such schemas can happily coexist and consequently complement each other in a BW-on-HANA environment. By Thomas Zurek (5617 page views)
  8. Extend your SAP jQuery Mobile web app with HTML5 concepts and Native device features - Part 2
In Part 1 of this blog we investigated the ease of developing a jQuery Mobile web app connected to an SAP ABAP server and enhanced with HTML5 / CSS3 techniques. Here in Part 2 we look to extend our mobile web application to transform it into a native app using PhoneGap, leveraging native capabilities of the mobile device. By John Moy (5589 page views)
  9. Next Generation ABAP Runtime Analysis (SAT) – How to analyze performance
The second blog of these series of blogs about SAT devotes itself to the analysis of performance problems and demonstrates how the new tools and features of the SAT help you efficiently to analyze the performance of any ABAP application.  By Olga Dolinskaja (5283 page views)

  11. How to configure product system and technical system to run Maintenance Optimizer
On the one hand there is the reality of your SAP system landscape; on the other hand, the landscape that you configure in SAP tools is a kind of map. It’s important for the map to reflect your real terrain. This post is to describe with examples how to configure your systems in Solution Manager System Landscape (SMSY) to run Maintenance Optimizer (MOpz). By Tong Ping (4842 page views)

  14. Model-Driven Development in ABAP
Model-Driven Development is more present in Java than in ABAP, but the emerging ABAP in Eclipse development environment offers the opportunity to establish more MDD in ABAP, resulting in more consistent domain models, better platform-independence, and better conceptual harmonization across technologies. By Thorsten Franz (4414 page views)

It is an impressive list of articles and there is no surprise given the focus on HANA that several of the most popular blogs were on this topic. The great thing about the SAP community network is that anyone reading this could be on the list next year as you never know what will capture the attention of the community. Good luck and look forward to reading your upcoming blog.
