Following several others here is the "Blog It Forward" post for myself. In case you haven't heard about the "Blog It Forward" challenge, you can find more details here and see the Blog It Forward Chain.

So a quick intro to myself

I am originally from Germany (a small town called Vechta, close to Bremen) and my "SAP Life" started around 1999 when I was hired by a company called Seagate Software (which then became Crystal Decisions). I moved in 2000 down to Walldorf as part of a small team of 4 people to work on the first integration with the SAP team in Walldorf. Since 2004 I am working out of the office in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

My role at SAP ?

Over the years I had different roles in different parts of the organization. I have worked in Product Management and Solution management, have been on the Engineering side as a Program Manager and now I work in the team of vijay.vijayasankarwith focusing on BW on HANA and BI with BW on HANA.

My (two) favorite places in the world ?

Based on my role I was fortunate that I did some traveling around the world and I have to say that so far my two favorite places are Sydney, Australia and Johannesburg (and Kruger Park) - which you can also see below.

What do you enjoy most on SCN ?

To me SCN is simply the place where customers on the one hand can learn more about our products and on the other hand can also ask for the help of the community in case they are facing an issue or would like to learn more from other customers.

What was the most fun project you ever participated in and why?

Now this was a very easy choice. I have to say that the time starting in 2000 working for Crystal Decisions as a small company (1000 employees) to go to Walldorf to the "big guys" and work on the integration of Crystal Reports 8.5 into SAP BW 3.0 was a great time, some great memories, and I made some great friends.

What was your dream job as a kid ?

I will keep this one short and feel free to ask me when we meet in person why this didn't work out - but I was once close to sign up with the german army to become a jet pilot.

What do you imagine or predict is the future of your topic ?

Well - right now I am working on BI with BW on HANA and it will probably stay like that for the foreseeable future, so you will see more from my side on things like Predictive Analysis with BW on HANA, or Design Studio, or Lumira with BW on HANA.

Something interesting about me ?

Since I moved to Canada my better half and myself started to volunteer at an Wildlife Animal shelter. "Wildlife" means any mammal that is natural to BC, so that could mean from a squirrel up to a Black bear.

So the animal shelter - Critter Care Wildlife Society - is taking care of orphans and injured animals and we then release them back into the nature.

Here are some examples:

Pictures from our Baby Season

Pictures from our current Black Bears

Video of our latest Bear learning to catch a fish

So for me as one of many volunteers helping out did mean.......

.... to organize and to cook at a BBQ for 5000 visitors over 2 days......and....

... to dress up in a big raccoon custom, giving little kids a hug and asking mom and dad for a small donation.

If you are still reading and you agree with such a cause - perhaps just take 1 min and vote for the cause as we are trying to win some funding to help more animals (simply click on the image below)

I hope everyone learned something about me now and I would like to invite alexpfrom Molson Coors to tell us more about himself and his BI journey.
