This FAQ applies to SAP Cloud Identity (formerly SAP ID service) accounts.  These are the accounts that are used to log onto SAP Community Network, SAP HANA Cloud Platform, SAP Store, etc.

  1. How did it happen that I have multiple accounts registered to my e-mail address?
SAP Cloud Identity (formerly SAP ID service) user database is a merger of several user databases.  The amalgamation of all of these sources resulted in some users having multiple accounts registered with the same e-mail address.

  2. Is anything being done about the “multiple account” situation?
With the exception of one source, for over the last two years, e-mail account uniqueness has been enforced for all newly created users.  In the first half of 2015, the e-mail uniqueness will be enforces on all sources and it will no longer be possible to create a new account with the same e-mail address as one that already exists.

  3. What do I do when I have multiple accounts and they have the same e-mail address?
If you have multiple accounts with the same e-mail address, you have several options:

Coming in 2015 — SAP Universal Account
Starting in mid-2015, SAP Cloud Identity will rollout the SAP Universal Account.  With your SAP Universal Account, you will be able to use a single set of credentials to log on to all of web sites, applications and digital properties connected to SAP Cloud Identity.  Stay tuned to this space for additional information and rollout timelines.

In the meantime, if you have several accounts registered to the same e-mail address, set a unique password for each of the accounts.  The combination of your e-mail address and unique password for each account will give you direct access to each account at log on.
  4. Where can I see all of the accounts that are registered with my e-mail address?
To view all of the accounts that have been registered to your e-mail address, go to your SAP Cloud Identity (SAP ID Service) Profile.  The “Your Accounts” section at the top of the profile page lists all of your accounts.
  5. Do I have any other options then having different passwords?
Yes, if you do not want to set different passwords, you can set a User Name for each of your accounts.  When you log on, you can provide User Name and Password to log on to the specific account.
  6. If I give each account a unique User Name, is this the same user name as my SAP Community Network (SCN) user name?
Not yet.  In Q1, where possible, we will automatically merge the existing User Names from SCN into your SAP Cloud Identity account.  Unfortunately, in the case of multiple accounts, we will not be able to provide an automatic merge as we do not know to which account you would like to have the User Name assigned.
