The countdown for InnoJam is on. By the end of the week 200 developers will gather in Palo Alto and two weeks later in Berlin to find innovative solutions around the topic “Internet of Things for the Agricultural Industry.” This year developers get to use the solution of one of SAP’s partners, SynerScope for the first time. Their VP Global Sales Phil Loewen told us more about the collaboration.
What’s your personal InnoJam experience?
Phil: Four years ago I found myself in the exciting situation of InnoJam for the first time. Together with fellow SAP Users, developers, IT enthusiast, but also team leads and managers, we had to develop a working prototype within a 30 hour time window. After participating and winning the event two years in a row in Berlin, I took on a new challenge and became a team coach and design thinking expert. I assisted several teams to win the event, which then got to present their prototype at DemoJam at SAP TechEd.
How are you involved in the 2014 InnoJams?
Phil: The rush of the event and the feeling of accomplishment have followed me from my own startup, to several partners in the SAP landscape to my current position at SynerScope, an SAP partner. SynerScope provides advanced BI/Big Data analysis software that directly allows domain experts and analysts to make sense of their Big Data. As a former participant and coach I recognized the added value, we could provide to InnoJam. Traditionally participants develop their solutions on a palette of SAP solutions and technologies like SAP HANA or SAP Lumira. I talked to the Craig Cmehil, one of the organizers of InnoJam and as a result, the participants will be provided with SynerScope software to assess the data available to them.
How can SynerScope improve the InnoJam experience?
Phil: So imagine the scope of this year’s topic Internet of Things for the Agricultural Industry: It’s huge. Participants will be confronted with vast amounts of data. This can range from weather data to the effects of different fertilizers, from growth rates of crops to geospatial data of fields. Some of this data is structured, some is unstructured. Some data lies within the ERP system while other data comes from outside.
To make use of data, you first need to interpret it. To interpret it, you need to visualize it. And to visualize it, you need to spend quite a bit of your limited time on developing a visualization tool. Only after all this this effort you begin to grasp the data and can start asking the right questions to solve your problem. What if you could speed up the data discovery process to get to the important questions right away? With the software from SynerScope, teams can save a lot of time on developing upfront and concentrate on other things instead, which is a big plus in the fast paced atmosphere of InnoJam.
What’s SynerScope’s approach to quickly and thoroughly assess the data?
