It is still 3 weeks to go, but I start to prepare myself for my first big BI conference this year. I tend to be a preparation maniac, if time allows, and you really can spend hours creating the most perfect conference agenda for yourself. It is quite interesting to create alternative agenda versions by changing the selection criteria, e.g. from topic to speaker, or to ‘latest release info only’, or to ‘meet the experts’, or even to optimize your lunch time.

What is your preferred strategy? If you are an experienced conference traveler you know that no strategy will survive the conference battlefield, but it's a good feeling to be prepared.

So let’s have a look at the BI / Analytics conference calendar 2012:

The SAPrunsSAP demo team from SAP Global IT had their first missions at SAP FKOM events worldwide in January. Buzzwords were of course the BusinessObjects Feature Pack 3, mobile and usage of HANA in-memory database. Both important influencers for BI projects in 2012. Here are some flickr impressions from my IT colleague and SAP Mentor Martin Lang

You may have already missed the Heliview Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing 2012 conference in ‘s Hertogenbosch, Netherlands on January 24. But don’t miss the related blog ‘BI and The Limitations of Human Cognition’ from Timo Elliott.

The Gartner Business Intelligence Summit EMEA will follow already next week (February 6) in London. That’s too close for you? Then you have a second chance with the North America Summit April 2 in Los Angeles. The promise: ‘The Gartner Business Intelligence Summit 2012 is the premier business analytics event providing must-have insights, frameworks and best practices for maximizing the business impact of information management and business analytics initiatives. The summit delivers the unbiased research and insight necessary to achieve analytic excellence in today's challenging business environment.’

Just one more week to go for the TDWI World Conference starting February 12 in Las Vegas. The promise: ‘At the TDWI World Conference in Las Vegas, the focus is on developing a true enterprise strategy for one of your organization’s most valuable assets: its data. And it’s not just IT’s responsibility. If you hope to transform your data into information and knowledge that will produce measurable improvements in business performance, a true strategy is essential, and it depends on a partnership across departments.’

Next in line is the German SAP User Group (DSAG) with the Technology Day 2012 in Nuernberg on February 22.

The BI 2012 will open it’s door in Las Vegas on February 27 and in Milan on June 6. The promise: ‘More than 175 in-depth sessions and labs, a packed agenda of networking events, and hundreds of demos showcasing the latest updates and best practices for SAP business intelligence solutions.’ Sounds very promising and just imagine the fun to optimize your personal agenda with 175 sessions in 5 days!
