In the last months, the BRFplus team was working hard to finalize the next release of BRFplus. It is shipped with NW 7.0 Enhancement Package (EhP) 2. Dozens of customers, partners, and internal testers gave us a tough time in the first two months of this year. However, it was also a sweet time because of the very positive feedback we have received so far. There is a big pipeline of customers eagerly waiting to participate in the NW/Suite ramp-up and to use the new release of BRFplus.
BRFplus is now implemented in many SAP applications such as:
Several further scenarios are in the pipeline for 2010.
Throughout 2009, we had several weeks of testing in different locations. Customers and partners tested development versions of BRFplus to learn about BRFplus capabilities and how to use it for their use cases. Also, they gave us important feedback at a very early stage, which helped us to include it into the development of the 7.0 EhP 2 release.
We want to continue with early testing by customers and partners. With this blog, I would like to invite anybody who is interested to send an email to me. We plan to have several tester seats in the SAP offices. The final dates and locations will be discussed with the interested parties.
BRFplus developments in 2010 will be part of NW 7.0 EhP 3. The most important theme of this development phase is usability. We are currently in the process to create some architecture papers and finalize the plans for this release. Now, we also have support by a professional usability expert. In addition to the countless smaller usability improvement the following topics are on the list:
Please note that this list does not contain any form of commitment or guarantee. It may happen that priorities change, problems during implementation restrain us from releasing a feature, or we just do not get it all done in time. We already know today that time will not be sufficient to deliver to all request. 😉
Many customers have asked me for a comparison of BRF and BRFplus. In Business Suite 7 Enhancement Package 5, several applications embedding BRF have added the capability to use BRFplus as well. However, after having written some paragraphs, we have seen that a blog is not enough. Now you can find the comparison in SDN as a paper: About BRF and BRFplus
I am very happy to announce that Galileo Press will release a book about BRFplus in summer 2010. You can find some first information about the book on the Galileo Press SAP Press page. Guess what? I am one of the authors of the book. I will blog about the contents in some weeks.
