Presenting 5 tennis aces that can make all the difference.

Unless you’re under 25, your best chances of winning at Wimbledon are behind you. But if you still dream of an emotional victory at Center Court, you can still live vicariously through your children.

Every parent knows it takes years of lessons, sacrifice, training, and wearing tennis whites to even have a prayer of watching your child hoist the Silver Gilt Cup or Rosewater Dish triumphantly over their head one day.

But what few people know, and I’m happy to share with you, are the undeniable statistics behind the world’s brightest tennis players. Feel free to use these 5 stats to your advantage—but whatever you do, don’t share them with the other parents in your child’s playgroups.

If you haven’t done so already, take up residence in the United States. The states produce twice as many Wimbledon winners than any other country in the world. The next closest is Switzerland.

Although it probably goes against your every instinct as a parent, encourage your child to grunt loudly. The Wimbledon crowd may cry into their cups of strawberries and cream that it’s not proper etiquette—but it’s effective. Turns out opposing players have a 7% slower reaction speed while being grunted at.

Whatever you do, put that tennis racquet in your child’s left hand. 22% of male Grand Slam winners are lefty, which is amazing when you consider that just 10% of the world’s population is left-handed.

So far as that racquet goes, choose your brand carefully. Wilson is used by 29% of the top 100 ATP Men’s players. Head and Babolat round out the top three, representing over 75% of the top 100.

Lastly, it’s never too early to make sure your child drinks plenty of milk. All world records for service speed are held by players who are over six feet tall.

Of course there’s more to winning at Wimbledon than living in the US, grunting a lot, being left handed, brand conscious, tall, and under 25. To see the rest, pour yourself a cup of tea and check out our SAP’s Pinterest board, Tennis Pinfographic. Like everything else that data in the hands of SAP analytics software can show, these infographics break down a bunch of seemingly unrelated stats, then pulls them all together to give you an informed an unexpected perspective. Better insights, better decisions.
