This is a continuation of HANA Live Real Time Business Intelligence Unifying OLAP OLTP – ASUG Webcast and also the legal disclaimer applies – things in the future are subject to change.

Figure 1: Source: SAP

Figure 1 shows the deployment options available with HANA Live.

Integrated stack where suite on HANA resides, HANA Live can reside and there is no latency (left of Figure 1)

The middle of Figure 1 is the side car scenario using the SLT replication technology. This can be used if the suite is on any traditional database.

Third deployment option if the customer has BW on HANA – you can deploy HANA Live models on same server as BW on HANA.   You still do replication.  You can use the queries with BW and have a mixed scenario with real time.

There are real time HTML5 applications, such as Working Capital analytics.

HANA Live is the infrastructure layer that provides the data model

The Smart Business Cockpits takes the data from HANA Live and insight to action models, using Fiori applications

HANA Live RDS Outlook

Figure 7: Source: SAP

Version 1 was available in July 2013 with 85 pre-built reports.

Version 2 has 100 pre-built reports with 3 analytical applications and comes with Smart Business Cockpits (described in HANA Live guides)

Next version is planned for Q1 2014, version 3.  Based on HANA Live SP05 with HANA SP07 and new scenarios with Smart Business cockpits

Version 4 will come in Q2-Q3 2014 and will include customer specific scenarios

Prebuilt reports in Crystal, Dasbhoards, Design Studio, Lumira client, Web Intelligence

Figure 8: Source: SAP

This figure describes the services side of the RDS solution.

The customers can go live in 12-14 weeks with 10 reports and two applications

It can be an integrated scenario or side car scenario

They are working on a leaner deployment option for version 3 where go-live will be possible in 4-6 weeks.

This figure shows the BI clients used in HANA Live with pre-built content.

Conclusion

The key takeaway is that HANA Live does not replace BW and BW doesn’t replace it (HANA Live)

Q&A Session for Jump-start SAP Hana Live and next generation reporting with SAP Rapid-deployment Solutions

Q: Can you build custom views based directly on physical tables?

A: Yes

________________________________________________________________

Q: Why are all of HANA Live content delivered as calculation views, when best practice recommendations are to start from the simplest models (attribute views)?

A: When HANA Live started, SAP started working on guidance on creating HANA Live on calculated views on suite due to layered architecture, to allow organizations to handle complexities, hierarchies, multi-dimensional reporting, and provide authorizations, and this is why you see calc views for all HANA Live virtual data models.  For suite on HANA calc views are the go-forward way for real-time. reporting.

Q: Can the RDS include implementation of Side Car or does that need to be in place first?

A: RDS can include this
