“What’s in a hashtag?” – William Shakespeare (paraphrased)

In case you haven’t heard, the ASUG SAP BusinessObjects User Conference (SBOUC) is now the ASUG SAP Analytics and BusinessObjects Conference (and it smells just as sweet). More importantly for the Twitter-inclined, that also means a new hashtag is required for the event: #SABOUC.

Now, we know that there have already been a few modifications to this hashtag (OK, maybe you didn’t even notice). It was a natural fit for people to create #SABOC, and that was common for a time—until an astute observer at ASUG HQ noticed the #SABOC hashtag is used to reference a restaurant by the same name in Barcelona, Spain. And then another astute observer (a.k.a. Jamie Oswald) noticed that it also shared an acronym with the San Antonio Business Opportunity Council.

We wouldn’t want to confuse people--#SABOUC takes place in Fort Worth, Texas, not San Antonio. And we wouldn’t want people heading to a restaurant in Spain and expecting to find a Business Intelligence and analytics show. Plus, we’re confident you’ll be able to find some decent tapas in Fort Worth.

After those discoveries, we decided to just add the year on the end—either #SABOC14 or #SABOC2014. Both seemed a little long and we’ve finally ended up at #SABOUC. It’s only one letter difference from the previous version, and we firmly believe that Twitter can handle the change. Third (or fourth) time’s a charm!

Remember to use #SABOUC in talking about all the great content that will be available at the ASUG SAP Analytics and BusinessObjects Conference. Those other hashtags have gone the way of the fanny pack—sure, they are occasionally seen around, but we have moved on to better and more fashionable things.

And there will be plenty of reasons to use #SABOUC—SAP’s Steve Lucas and Christian Rodatus will be speaking at the event and giving the latest info on SAP products, along with a town hall style panel that will offer the opportunity to ask questions of every major SAP Analytics and BusinessObjects product lead.

Then there are all the customer sessions—where those who have “been there and done that” with SAP products will tell their stories, offering important advice on the do’s and don’ts in using SAP Analytics and BusinessObjects software.

Finally, we can’t forget about Dev Wars—which may see the most rapid-fire use of the #SABOUC hashtag. Teams of dashboard-building geniuses will do battle on stage in full costume all in the name of analysis, entertainment and, of course, charity.

Whether it is in preparation for the ASUG SAP Analytics and BusinessObjects Conference or at the event on Sept. 22-24, remember that on Twitter, it is all about #SABOUC.
