Every year going to SAP TechEd (and this year it is && d-code) I think this year was the best yet.  This year was no exception.

If you are going to Berlin, please read Win Big with the SAP TechEd && d-code 2014 Hands-On Workshop Challenge by dianna.disanto before reading the rest of this blog - it is a deal you cannot miss.

Non-SAP

I landed in Las Vegas, checked in early (thank you Palazzo) and started walking.  I made it to Caesar's Palace for some great gelato.  I also walked to the Fashion Mall.  I don't miss mall shopping that much and mostly shop online these days.

Because I am on a different time zone than Las Vegas, I fall asleep early, and wake up early.  When I go to the Palazzo lobby, the Coffee Bean is roped off and looks closed.   I ask the security guard "where can I get coffee" and the magically, the Coffee Bean is now open.  I must say the service in Las Vegas is the best I've seen anywhere.

Before Las Vegas

I like the Mobile Documents feature with the SAP TechEd && d-code mobile application.  During the conference, I completely forgot I put the presentations there but it is still a nice feature.

Day 1

Registration was smooth because I have my bar code and get all the name tags.  I'm reminded that if I lose it, I pay full registration

Conveniently, the wi-fi codes are on the back of the badge.

Next, setting up for the ASUG pre-conference sessions.  I wrote about those here Day 0: SAP TechEd && d-code BI Preconference session

Hopefully there will be pre-conference sessions at ASUG Annual Conference 2015 May 5-7, 2015.

Day 2

For me the highlight of the keynote was this:

I think it is worth seeing.

After the keynote, we start with the ASUG SAP BusinessObjects Design Studio Influence Council, lead by Joyce Butler and jie.deng.  We had a good discussion with attendees about the product. See the ASUG video here

Next the ASUG Analysis Influence Council, with a smaller group, lead by Joyce Butler and David Stocker.

I missed these ASUG Influence Council sessions - please see these ASUG Videos here:

BI Platform ASUG Influence Council:

ASUG SAP Lumira Influence Council:

The only 4 hour hands on session I was at was EA161 Predictive Analysis with BW and HANA to see how HANA, Predictive, InfiniteInsight all fit together.

Day 3

Day 3 starts with a 2 hour EA265, SAP BI4.1 with BW on HANA.  I highly recommend this session if you are going to Berlin as you experience Analysis Office, Design Studio and Lumira in 2 hours with expert Ingo Hilgefort.  I also suggest having a game plan and review the exercises before you go in - you have a choice to either do the beginner or advanced exercises but you won't have time for both.  If you are advanced, try to sit with another advanced user.

The next session I wrote the notes here - EA202 SAP Lumira and Design Studio BW Integration Lumira BW Integration Update at SAP TechEd #SAPtd

I attended EA106 SAP Lumira End to End and InfoGraphics.

Also Day 3 was the Geeks can Dance.  Figure 3 shows katarina.fischer singing.  99 balloons was a great hit, along with the great AC/DC Highway to ...

Kudos to singers and musicians.

If you are going to Berlin you should check out Musicians going to #SAPtd Berlin join Geeks Can Dance aka SAP Jam Band

Other

It was great to see steve.lucas2 get his SAP Mentor shirt from mark.finnern

Lastly I want to thank the ASUG SAP TechEd && d-code speakers.  I want to thank Melissa Berg-Baker and kreszentiakuhn for their great speaker support.
