A Guide to Business Suite on SCN

SAP Community Network (SCN) is a place to gain and share knowledge and expertise on SAP technology, engage and collaborate with peers, and build your reputation as an SAP professional. We host a number of tailored communities, called “spaces”, where members can contribute and evaluate content, find and post answers to questions, and engage and build a reputation in the community.

Admittedly, given the complexity of the software landscape, it isn’t always easy to find the right content, or to know where to post your innermost thoughts about a new product release. Some spaces are vast and over-arching – such a SAP Business Suite or SAP HANA and In-Memory Computing – while some are more specific to a certain audience, product, or technology – such as SAP for Retail or SAP Cloud for Financials.

Call it the Goldilocks challenge, walking into SCN and finding the “just the right” space.

Given the vast array of topics and products related to Business Suite, maybe a signpost could help those who are lost in space find their way. To that end, the purpose of this document is to provide a basic directory of spaces on SCN related to SAP Business Suite.

There, you can contribute and engage with content and other professionals. If you’re looking for more of an understanding about the products and solutions themselves, I provide links to related pages on SAP.com.

SAP Business Suite

I’m not here to tell you what it is. For that, you can read (or skip) the boilerplate blurb, or better yet visit SAP.com to learn how to drive your business in real time.

Integrated enterprise applications delivered with SAP Business Suite software enable enterprises like yours to execute and optimize business and IT strategies. SAP Business Suite enables you to perform essential, industry-specific, and business-support processes with modular solutions that are designed to work with other SAP and non-SAP software.

I’m here to tell you not what it is, but where it is.

The big announcement in January was of course the option for customers to run Business Suite on HANA. To talk about SAP Business Suite powered by SAP HANA, you’re already in the right place. Going forward, this is the place to contribute, query, and interact on higher level discussions concerning Suite software running on the in-memory platform.

If you’re strictly interested in the SAP HANA platform, head over to the SAP HANA and In-Memory Computing space. Or, if you want access and resources for a hosted HANA sandbox system, check what’s available in the SAP HANA Developer Center.

Business Applications

Community tends to converge around core products, and there are many in this realm. While seasoned SCN members already follow their “go to” spaces and bookmark the useful resources in those spaces, it’s worth taking a look at how Business Suite conversations unfold on SCN.

There are several active “collector” spaces, such as CRM, EAM, or ERP, that are available for general discussion about the solution. And beyond that, as you can see from the examples below, you can drill into any number of key areas to talk nuts and bolts.

The best way to get to these spaces (and there are many) is through the top level navigation on the site, under Solutions.

Industries

SCN hosts industry-specific spaces for you to share and find industry-specific knowledge, best practices, and processes. General thoughts and queries may be posted to the main Industries space, though the industry-specific spaces will be more suitable to most.

Leave a breadcrumb along the way

No matter where you post, tagging your content with appropriate user tags will help surface your content in related spaces. For example, if you apply the tag “sap_hana” to a blog written in the Business Suite space, it will be displayed in the Related Content widget in the SAP HANA space.

You can see examples of Tags associated with this blog just below.

Finally, if you want to save yourself the trouble from having to find your way through this blog in the future, I summarized the information in a table in the document Directory of Business Suite Spaces on SCN.
