Enterprises have more on their plates than ever before. Technology in the marketplace continues to evolve at a record pace, and the digital transformation will produce a consumer who has -- and craves -- unprecedented volumes of data.

SAP Mobile Documents is a secure mobile content management solution introduced Monday at Mobile World Congress.

“In many ways, the digital consumer is already there,” Accenture’s Monte Hong said at Mobile World Congress on Monday. “And they need the solutions.”

Consumers will easily settle into the new order. So the onus is on service and solutions providers, as well as hardware and software manufactures, to find out what roles they will play.

Hong, Global Communications Industry Practice Lead at the Dublin-based global management consultancy, spoke at “Beyond Telco: The Consumerization of IT,” a session at MWC, which runs Monday through Thursday in Barcelona. He also described the latest Telco trends:

  • Real-time solutions for mobility, analytics communications and more
  • New partnerships in the ecosystem
  • Broader range of consumers, e.g., big business, SMEs and employee customers

Employee customers are already a big part of the market, Hong stated. This is evident from the popularity of Bring Your Own Device, a trend that is certainly getting its share of love at MWC.

“SAP also announced at MWC a Mobile Documents app for the iPad that’s based on an internal version of the app used by 10,000 of SAP’s 53,000 mobile users,” Computerworld noted Monday. “Combined with SAP Afaria for mobile device management ... businesses will have a complete system for securing mobile devices, apps and content.”

SAP also announced a partnership with Stockholm-based Telco Ericsson.

“The joint SAP and Ericsson solutions will be based on a combined software as a service (SaaS) offering within M2M, combining Ericsson’s services, solutions, technology and network operator infrastructure [with] enterprise business solutions from SAP,” eWeek reported Monday. “The solutions are designed to help enhance enterprise efficiency in business processes such as maintenance, remote service, inventory, logistics and road transport management.”

Even as the evolving marketplace heaps ever-increasing portion sizes in front of enterprises, SAP events and solutions offer the knowledge, solutions and metaphoric cutlery that organizations can use to clean their plates.
