Kerala, a land locked between the Arabian Sea and the Western Ghats is famous for its high human development index, literacy and healthcare. The development model formulated by the local government had been spoken around the Globe in various economic forums and Universities. Despite the high Social indicators and landscape, Kerala continued to have a very low Per-capita income. As the Communist Governments were impervious to the development reforms, multinationals were reluctant to reach this beautiful state of India. The high literacy rate became a burden for the state as graduates were finding difficulty to find a good job. The Smart city project which was planned few years ago has not got any wings yet.

Recently the Kerala government has initiated a plan that can foster Young entrepreneurship in this job scarce state. Start-Up village has been set-up in Kochi as an incubation center in a public private partnership model. From the time of its creation Start-up village has provided an Eco-system and a platform for new companies to develop breakthrough technologies mainly in telecommunication industry. There has been a lot of excitement across campuses and students in Kerala as they were the primary focus of this initiative.  The initiative has been promoted by Government of India, Techno park Trivandrum and MobMe Wireless (Founded by Sanjay Vijayakumar, who has conceived the idea of Start-Up village). From tax exemption to funding, there have been a lot of incentives provided to the Start-ups.

With the plan to create 1000+ product firms Kerala's Start-up village is definitely going to be a success story and will contribute to the money order economy of Kerala. I'm confident that at least one of this Start-up is going to be based on SAP Technology or a product that seamlessly integrates in to SAP which will bring enormous benefits to the Customers.
