Can you remember what you were up to back in 1986? It was a year that saw Top Gun ruling the box office, the NY Mets beating the Red Sox in 7 games to win the World Series and Nespresso beginning their quest to revolutionize the way millions of people enjoy coffee in the privacy of their own home.  They say if you can remember the 60’s you weren’t there and if you can remember the 80’s you had big hair and if you were extremely lucky a Commodore 64 Computer.

Back then, not only was coffee consumption still considered a guilty pleasure but the popular belief was that it also raised your risk of developing heart disease and caused strokes. Despite common misconceptions, numerous recent studies have debunked these myths and have shown that drinking coffee is indeed one of the best things you can do for your health.

The following are some evidenced based benefits of drinking antioxidant and nutrient dense coffee.

.  Caffeine acts as a stimulant and improves energy levels, mood and brain function

.  Coffee can increase metabolism and improve physical performance

.  Coffee contains important nutrients such as riboflavin, manganese, potassium, magnesium and niacin

.  Coffee enthusiasts have up to 50% less chance of getting type II diabetes

.  Coffee drinkers have a much lower risk of developing Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, cirrhosis of the liver and colorectal cancer

Now that’s not just strong coffee that’s some strong medicine! Obviously much has changed since 1986 though it seems Tom Cruise hasn't topped the box office in awhile and the Mets still haven’t won another World Series.

Conversely, Nespresso has had a spectacular trajectory since its ’86 debut and as a result in recent years, needed to equip both their enterprise and retail sales representatives with a better understanding of their rapidly growing customer base.

To help insure it would continue delivering the perfect coffee buying experience to millions, Nespresso looked to cloud technology selecting SAP Cloud for Sales and now Nespresso has:

. Deeper customer insight across the enterprise and via social media

. Holistic view of customers across all channels and systems, including insight into the customer experience through social media analytics

. Ability to orchestrate the complete buying cycle, including pricing, quotes and orders using a single, cloud-based solution.

. Greater penetration into net-new markets thanks to high user adoption, improved sales productivity, and greater visibility.

“Nespresso maintains a direct dialogue with our consumers and Club members. Worldwide they interact with us through an array of consumer contact points. SAP Cloud for Sales allows us to focus on delivering the ultimate coffee experience to our consumers.”

Jean-Marc Duvoisin, CEO Nestle Nespresso SA

Based in French speaking Switzerland, Nespresso is part of the Nestle Group which is located on the shores of Lake Geneva directly facing the French town of Evian-les Bains and pictured above.  Can you imagine a better setting to enjoy a piping hot cup of Voltesso Espresso?

Voltaire himself is said to have enjoyed the same view of Lake Geneva inspired by kaleidoscopic tableau. I’m sure the great philosopher would have agreed with Nespresso’s philosophy that the perfect customer experience needs to be synonymous with the perfect coffee experience. After all, look how good it is for you.

Here’s to your health!
