When CEO Bill McDermott announced that SAP Fiori UX and SAP Screen Personas would now be included with SAP licensed software for no extra charge, the large audience of influencers and customers at SAPPHIRE NOW erupted with applause. Their voices had been heard.
SAP Fiori, launched last year as a collection of applications aimed to customize SAP software, has gained tremendous popularity and importance in the software market. It has completely transformed the UX (user experience) and SAP’s understanding of what the customer actually wants and needs.
Now, SAP is expanding on its reliable software solutions by also providing a unique, design-focused approach.
Bernd Leukert, SAP’s Development Chief, highlighted this point on the second day of SAPPHIRE NOW by metaphorically comparing software to a diamond. “The value of diamonds increase with the clarity, the purity, and the colors,” he said. Today, SAP is ready to shine like a diamond with its customized UX, the “new philosophy” of Fiori, and unique designs.
As proof, recent co-innovation with customers has shown that UX really is a priority for SAP. The newly appointed Chief Design Officer Sam Yen showcased with confidence the capabilities of SAP Lumira. From its native integration into the underlying data source to the analytical calculation in the data systems, with Lumira, says Sam Yen, “we are bringing predictive capabilities not in the hands of data scientists, but right into the hands of end-users.”
A combination of the latest technology, data analytics, real-time operations, and visual data-based infographics is now available at the users’ fingertips. Now with over 300 apps that use the SAP Fiori UX, SAP users can fully take advantage of a next-generation user experience based on a unique design that is simple, clear, and easy to navigate.
This is transformational for customers. “The value of this,” says Sam Yen, “is that the application will sit directly on the transactional data, eliminating any need to do any data replication and removing all the errors.” With real time analytics and simple infographics, customers now “can tell their story with visualization of their data” in real time and all in one system.
The new focus on design and real time operations answers not only end-users’ need to have a personalized and simple experience of data management throughout multiple devices, but also creates a rich innovative developer experience within SAP. As Bernd Leukert said, “real-time information is becoming a new global currency. ”SAP has chosen the right time to disrupt the old way of data consumption.
