In March 2014, SAP announced the launch of a new program to support student entrepreneurs – the SAP Student Entrepreneurship Program.

The program aims to provide comprehensive support for students who want to start businesses that develop real-time solutions and Big Data applications. Participants in the entrepreneurship program will receive support in developing new applications on the SAP HANA platform. The students will be able to use SAP software free of charge to develop applications and will be assisted by SAP experts. A comprehensive training program will provide the necessary technical background on SAP HANA as well as SAP Mobile Platform. Students will also be trained in design thinking methodology, business modeling, and investor pitching best practices, to help them along the process from an idea through to the finished product.

As the SAP University Alliances global lead for student entrepreneurship, I am pleased to share that two seasoned SAP professionals are joining SAP University Alliances as fellows for the next six months, and together will drive the go-to-market, curriculum, and top university engagement for this exciting program.

Stephan Lange, based at SAP headquarters in Walldorf, Germany, has been with SAP for 15 years where he is today in the User Experience & Design team responsible for the Emergency Solution project. Stephan’s expertise is in UX Technology, SAP HANA Platform, Cloud Computing, and Project Management, and his interests include computer vision and image processing.

Scott Jones, based at SAP Labs, Cambridge, MA, brings recent, relevant experience to this role from the SAP Startup Focus program, where he has managed and delivered training and enablement activities for enrolled startup companies for the past several years.  Scott will also bring to his fellowship role his experiences with the SAP Developer Network and Customer Solution Adoption teams, which he’ll use to promote student engagement in UA programs.

Congratulations Stephan and Scott on your fellowships in SAP University Alliances! With your leadership and inspired vision, the university start-up scene is about to hear a lot more about what SAP can offer students who aspire to be entrepreneurs!
