Consumer expectations and experience matter more than ever in our digitized world. Therefore, SAP offers solutions that are easier to access, handle and discover.

At SAP, we’re passionate about applications. They represent the core of what we do. But how are we able to reduce complexity in our core applications? Actually, this is pretty simple – SAP S/4HANA is our answer. SAP S/4HANA is the next generation enterprise software for the digital age. It is based on three things:

  • It runs on a substantially simplified data model. In the past, indices and total tables had to be created to avoid the fact that systems were always calculating. This ensured overall system performance, but at a high price: complexity and inflexibility. SAP S/4HANA has eliminated that.
  • SAP S/4HANA is fully Fiori web-based, offering a great user experience on any device. Users can grab data whenever and wherever.
  • It has guided configuration and pre-engineered integration that makes it easy to implement and simple to run because the system tells you what needs to be done.

SAP S/4HANA Gives Customers New Choices

We know that one size does not fit all. So we remain committed to providing our customers with choices – S/4HANA can be deployed in the cloud, on-premise or in hybrid scenarios. We want to ensure that all our customers move to S/4HANA in a smooth transition. The S/4HANA implementation is just one step away: Just convert your existing on-premise ERP system to S/4HANA in one step, including the database migration to SAP HANA. Or you directly choose to go for S/4HANA Cloud edition. Or go hybrid. It’s as simple as that.

SAP S/4HANA will not replace our existing portfolio of line-of-business cloud solutions; rather, it will integrate with them and expand our offerings. SAP S/4HANA lets customers build hybrid scenarios between SAP S/4HANA and cloud solutions from SAP, including those from SuccessFactors and Ariba, as well as integration with SAP Hybris Marketing. Customers can use the cloud at their own pace, based on their needs, while benefiting from the integration of their existing SAP solutions. In addition, SAP S/4HANA easily connects with global business networks such as the Ariba Network and Concur.

But how does SAP S/4HANA allow companies to be competitive in the digital age, or even differentiate themselves? Here’s how: SAP S/4HANA includes comprehensive functionalities for predictions and analyses. Based on these predictions, the system recommends actions that the business can take to create new, innovative models.

We started this innovation journey with SAP S/4HANA Simple Finance, letting every company drive instant insight across finance while simplifying IT. The first external customer for SAP S/4HANA Simple Finance was the Australian La Trobe University in Melbourne. La Trobe is the first customer to deploy SAP S/4HANA Simple Finance globally in the cloud. SAP S/4HANA Simple Finance provides its finance department and colleges with instant insight across devices to help the university with metrics-based planning, analysis, prediction and simulation across financial and operational processes — while significantly simplifying its entire IT landscape and architecture.

And we will continue this exciting journey – with a module for logistics and many more to follow. Make sure you take a look at our latest SAP S/4HANA FAQ and check out sap.com/s4hana and scn.sap.com/community/s4hana for more information and details on the next generation business suite.

Stay tuned for Part III in which you’ll learn more about the connected network.
