Since launching SAP S/4HANA in February 2015, I’ve been tracking our customer wins and keeping notes on how businesses are undergoing digital transformation to become leaders in the digital economy. Since the launch event, we are seeing incredible progress among our customers in their ability to drive end-to-end digitized processes – from planning, execution, prediction, simulation to analysis – all in real-time and with one system. Companies are turning to SAP S/4HANA as their digital core to drive instant insight across all mission critical business processes and interconnect all aspects of their value chain in real-time: customers, suppliers, workforce, assets and the Internet of Things.

Our customers that grasp the need for an integrated system which enables the business to predict, simulate, plan and even anticipate future business outcomes in the digital economy are experiencing business results—not over years, but in months. More than 1,300 customers have already chosen SAP S/4HANA, since the February launch, making it the fastest growing software in SAP’s history.

Customers including Asian Paints, La Trobe University, Florida Crystals, Swiss Re, Deloitte and Geberit, have already shared their digital transformation stories, captured in a recent SAPinsider Article. I would like to highlight three additional customer stories that outline how companies are starting to use SAP S/4HANA as their digital core to reimagine business, IT and user experience in the digital economy.

Reimagined Business

The Swiss Re Group, deals in complex risks associated with insurance. The company has revenue of $37.3 billion and 11,000 employees who serve insurance companies, corporations, public sector clients and policyholders. The business of insurance has only gotten more complicated since the 2008/2009 financial crisis, and the emphasis on increasing speed and reducing risk has become razor sharp. Company CIO Markus Schmid said, "We are in the middle of a finance transformation” and “our next generation will be S4-based."

Swiss Re selected SAP S/4HANA to gain the flexibility to leverage data across ledgers, currencies, local rules, and inconsistent external reporting requirements. Using SAP S/4HANA, Swiss Re expects to drastically reduce its risk by cutting its time for closing its books from 55 days to 5 days. This transformation will enable Swiss Re to react to market changes swiftly and run an agile business.

Reimagined IT

Türk Telekom Group, Turkey’s leading integrated telecommunication and technology services provider, needed to reimagine its IT infrastructure. Due to recent corporate acquisitions, Türk Telekom wanted to standardize business and IT processes and consolidate data from several sources into a single environment while ensuring secure data privacy, fast system access and control processes.

The company chose SAP S/4HANA as its digital core to bring together many ERP systems and provide flexibility in the IT systems to adapt to market and organization changes. This integrated system has helped Türk Telekom to standardize reporting, enabling executives and management to report and drill down to single line items for more clarity and visibility into operations and simplified processes eliminating all unnecessary workloads for employees. I recommend you this video to learn how using SAP S/4HANA will help strengthen Türk Telekom’s market position, one of the largest telecom markets in the European region.

Reimagined UX

Large enterprise organizations are not the only companies that are turning to SAP for digital transformation. Convergent IS saw its mobile infrastructure, security, and app business leap from a moderate, easy-to-handle customer base to a backlog of global customers eager to develop top-rated mobile apps and improve user experience. The company experienced a 200% annual growth rate as requests from Fortune 500, mid-market, and government agencies poured in to the sales pipeline. They were in search of a simple, easy to use enterprise software that could handle the fast pace and risk that came with staking out new customers in other countries.

Convergent embraced SAP S/4HANA not only for the speed of SAP HANA but also the reimagined user experience based on SAP Fiori. The system was deployed in only four months with a simple and coherent UX across the enterprise supporting employees in completing daily operational transactions with real-time insights, streamlining and executing key processes such as financial close, and getting  self-service access to fast drill-down reporting.

So, companies small and large around the globe are turning to SAP to initiate their digital transformation and are using SAP S/4HANA to establish their digital business framework. You should read our recent press release to see how more companies across regions are using the next generation business suite to reimagine business in the digital economy.

I will continue to share with you more stories as the digital journey is just getting started.

Run simple.
