The 43-year partnership of SAP and IBM is marking another momentous achievement. We are excited to announce the most comprehensive collaboration in the history of our partnership: The IBM and SAP Partnership for Digital Transformation.

The digital economy is forcing companies and entire industries to completely reinvent the way business has traditionally been done. Digital disruption is coming from all angles, and many organizations struggle with how to implement digital transformation in the enterprise. Now, organizations have a powerful team to help them out-think their competition and succeed in this new era.

Customers to Benefit from the IBM and SAP Partnership for Digital Transformation

The joint IBM and SAP digital transformation team will involve more than 40 employees from both companies co-located in Palo Alto, U.S.A. and Waldorf, Germany, with innovation centres around the world, to bring highly differentiated solutions and value to our joint customers.  The companies will collaborate on the following technologies and services:

Industry-specific road maps: IBM’s Institute for Business Value and SAP’s Value Engineering organization will co-create digital transformation road maps my industry and by C-suite role.


Cloud-based solutions: new cloud solutions that will draw on IBM industry and strategy consulting, infrastructure, migration and applications management services, and business process transformation. (This is an extension of the IBM and SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud partnership originally announced in 2014.


On-premise solutions: hybrid and on-premise offerings with SAP HANA on IBM POWER systems, supported through the new IBM POWER Systems Center of Excellence for SAP HANA in Austin, Texas.

Cognitive capabilities: IBM will develop cognitive extensions for SAP S/4HANA that use the power of cognitive APIs to drive more informed decisions.


Customer and user experience: IBM Interactive and the design teams for SAP Fiori and Customer Engagement and Commerce will collaborate on predesigned experiences that can be customized, and will also work together to apply IBM’s iOS design skills for mobile user experience


Integrated services: collaborative consulting models based on proven, agile services and support methods from both organizations.
