Towards the end of last year, we acquired a company in Paris, Multiposting. I wasn’t directly involved in the acquisition, as I was laser focused on Employee Central. At the time I thought, neat little tuck in play, well done Peter Baskin and team for doing the deal. Job posting is a small but important part of the recruitment process. It makes sense to integrate that into the portfolio, and it is a logical extension of our Recruiting Marketing component.

Then earlier this year, I spent some time in Paris with the Multiposting team, and I realized that there is so much more to Multiposting than I’d initially thought. Working with Simon Bouchez, the CEO, has opened my mind to a broader swathe of opportunities. I’m learning more from him than he realises. I have been trying to think of a successful billion dollar company anywhere that hasn’t grown by at least one acquisition, and I failed. When done well, acquisitions help you reset your thinking. You get to challenge and unlearn assumptions, and you have a window into doing things a little differently. Acquisitions are not easy, but we get better at each one, and slowly but surely, it is turning into a competitive edge.

There isn’t a company anywhere that understands the dynamics of job market and candidate sentiment as well as Multiposting does. Global organizations need to hire globally and locally, and navigating the complex patchwork of candidate sources is daunting. The job board that works in Kansas doesn’t hit the spot in Tuscany. Imagine knowing how hard it will be to fill a position before you actually start hiring. Big data and machine learning in action. Over the last 6 months we have worked hard to integrate the Multiposting solution into the SAP SuccessFactors portfolio, and we have also shipped career site builder and mobile apply, so lots going on.

While we can label stuff innovative, it is customers that make that judgment. The feedback from the major customers working with us on strategy has been very encouraging. But this is really just the start. A couple of weeks ago, I was having dinner with the head of HR technology at a major fast moving consumer goods company, and he was thrilled about the acquisition. His company was already a Multiposting user, and he was filled with ideas about how we can use what we have acquired across the portfolio.

As Cole Porter famously wrote, I love Paris in the summer when it sizzles.  More precisely, the sizzle is in the 9th Arondissemont. If you have a moment, have a listen to Ella, Frank, and a new one for me, Annie Ross. Talk to your SAP SuccessFactors representative, and have a look at what the new SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting Posting offering can do for you. In the meantime, check out this Recruiting to Win landing page to see how our customers are already benefiting. Or come visit us in Paris.
