Dear Customers & Partners,

Public Solution Model (PSM) entries enable you to re-use existing SAP Business ByDesign capabilities. To ensure a high development efficiency, we want to provide access to many business objects.

Never the less, a policy to ‘open up everything for read and write’ is not an option. Especially write enablement may infringe existing certificates (e.g. PS880 certificate for compliance in financial accounting) or interfere with a certain sequence of steps that need to be adhered to, to properly execute processes.

Therefore, SAP implemented a needs based policy: Instead of enabling some business objects to a certain degree, we work based on your requests. This approach helps us to spend the very limited development resources carefully. Every hour we spend on enabling PSM entries is an hour less for maintenance or new capabilities.

We are currently in the last phase of our development cycle for February 2013 shipment. Currently, the statistics for enabled business objects looks as follows:

Enabled Business Objects#
BusinessTransactionLegalAuthorisation1
CustomerInvoicing3
CustomerRelationshipManagement14
ExpenseAndReimbursementManagement1
Financials52
Foundation120
HumanCapitalManagement6
ProductionAndSiteLogisticsExecution18
ProjectManagement3
Purchasing6
Requisitioning1
StrategicSourcing1
SupplierInvoicing3
SupplyChainControl2
    Total231

Especially in Foundation (master data etc.) a lot has happened over the past feature packs.

If you identify the need for additional PSM entries, please log your request via a support ticket as described in our FAQ for Solution Partners and the specific FAQ on PSM: How can I request release of PSM business content?

We commit to assess your request within two business days and come back with a yes or no response. If the answer is yes, which means that ‘just’ the declaration in the PSM is needed, we will create the entry and ship it with the next hot fix collection, typically every second week.

If your request requires the development of additional logic or is associated to multiple business objects, we will put this request into the backlog for the next feature pack.

May we request some support from you? In the case of new entries, it would be very beneficial for the entire community, if you - in return - would please publish a short article with a code sample, how you are using the PSM entry. All of us, who are using different development environments know, how powerful good code snippets are.

Best regards

Rainer Zinow
