How to show page number from starting of main report along with sub report page number

Requirement: To show page number from starting of report along with sub report page number.

Purpose: share the experience with all how we achieved this.

Just want to share the workaround to achieve above requirement.

Following screen shot shows the requirement.

6 is the page number starting from first page and page 2 is the page number for the generated report.

many times we have similar kind of requirement like book, one side of page bottom we want to show total pages number and at the same place we want to show the page number of particular chapter.

As everyone aware about this subreport does not have page footer section. For achieve we need to do th page footer section only.

I have tried using variable as well as reset page number functionality but it will not work.On SCN portal also they are suggesting page footer in subreport but for that we should fix the number of records then we can show at particular section.If we do not want to show the fixed number of records and your report can grow then follow the following steps.

If we reset the page after section it will achieve only one case that report will show correct page count for sub report not for main report.

To calculate the correct page number for main report and sub report follow the following method

1. Create dummy group in sub report based on formula.

2.Create group on above formula

3.Go to group expert -> select group and options-> Repeat group on Each page.

4.Go to special fields and drag and drop the page number to the newly created group header.

5. Execute the report

Instead of showing both on page footer this can be achieved using maninreport page number on bottom of page and subreport page number is on top of each subreport starting from 1 for each new parameters.
