One of the most popular products on SAPStore.com is our easy-to-use report-building software, SAP Crystal Reports. And if I had a crystal ball, I’d predict that it’s about to become even more so. That’s because of what we’re offering with the new 2016 release – including new licensing options for SAP Crystal Server, which takes SAP Crystal Reports to a whole new level.

SAP Crystal Reports is actually the world’s leading reporting software, designed (and priced) for organizations of any size. IT professionals, report authors, and developers use it to transform huge amounts of data spread throughout the enterprise into dynamic formatted reports, and deliver an accurate view of actionable information to business users.

Now here’s the big news. With the 2016 release of the SAP Crystal solutions, SAP Crystal Server 2016 is available bundled in with SAP Crystal Reports, and SAP Crystal Dashboard Design for a comprehensive set of reporting, data visualization, and data exploration tools. These solutions all work together to make your reporting even more powerful – and maximize your investment.

With SAP Crystal Dashboard Design, you can visualize the data, whether it’s stored in Excel workbooks or corporate data sources. You can create rich interactive dashboards by tying visual components to underlying parts of your data source. And, if you’re using SAP Crystal Reports 2016, you can even embed dashboards in your reports and pass data to them from the reports.

SAP Crystal Server: making it accessible

But how do you make all this easily accessible to users? Once you create the reports, how do you get people to use them? That’s where SAP Crystal Server 2016 comes in. Now, you can share your reports with flexibility and scalability: everything is translated in a browser or mobile device. That includes interactivity such as drill-down, the group tree, and parameter panel, available to anyone with a browser.

If you need to automate large reports for anyone to view, you can use SAP Crystal Server 2016 to schedule reports to run with built-in standard intervals, or use your own custom calendars. Larger, more time-consuming reports can be scheduled during off hours and viewed later by multiple users right in a browser. Or you can schedule reports in a variety of file formats for publishing to different destinations.

Flexible, affordable licensing options

And about that licensing model: here’s how it works. On SAP Store, there are two options: a named user license, or NUL, and a concurrent access license, or CAL. A NUL permits one person to access SAP Crystal Server anytime, regardless of who else is using it at the same time. A concurrent access license, or CAL, lets you create as many user accounts as you want, and up to five people can use it concurrently. You buy the CAL in five-user increments. So you might have 20 users with an account; any of them can log on, but only five of them can be logged on at one time.

If you have numerous power users, you can buy a NUL for each of them. For those occasional users who simply need to access and view reports, you can estimate about how many of them will be logging on at any one time.

And the best part of these flexible options is that you’re not limited by initial purchase; you can mix and match licenses and add five-user CALs at any time.

Whatever option you choose, all SAP Crystal solutions are available for download at SAP Store, our online marketplace offering software, education, and data from both SAP and third parties. Prices are PayPal and credit-card-friendly, and you can try and buy with a simple click-through process. And because SAP Store is a self-service environment, we’ve created seven new videos to help you make the right choice and get up and running fast. I’ll tell you more about those in my next blog.
