DS 4.0 SP1 INSTALLATION

After successfully installing Information Platform Services (explained in my previous blog), I am installing DS 4.0 and step by step details with screen shots are given in this document.  When you execute the set up, DS will ask for prerequisties, which need to be met before proceeding.

In my case, two optional components (Office 2010 and BOE client tools) are missing. Since I am not going to use Metadata integrator and Microsoft office 2010, I won’t be installing the missing optional components along with the DS. I proceed with the installation as they are not critical.

In the next screen, i enter all the credentials and product key and specify the installation directory. DS 4.0 will be installed in the same directory as IPS.

I configured the CMS with DS4.0 using the credentials we entered during IPS installation.

Click 'YES' when you are prompted to stop and restart all servers.

In the next screen you will be asked to select the features for installation. Since BOE client tools are not installed, i won't be having access to metadata integrator.

Next screen prompts for reusing the existing DS file with the new installation. I had installed DS 4.0 client components earlier, which
i suspect could be the reason why the installation directory is displayed. I have skipped this step to continue with the installation.

As part of the installation, we have to configure the DS with a database server. In my installation i have selected the existing SQL Server database i installed prior to IPS.

I selected 'Use existing database server' for installation.

Enter all the credentials for configuring DB. Enter the repo name, data base server, port and authentication.

Job server can be configured post installation as well. For convenience i choose to have job server configured with the default name port number during the installation itself.

I have not set up an installation account, hence i chose to have it in the 'System Account' itself.

We have configure the access server and various port information before starting the full installations. I have decided to go with default values and screen shots are shown below.

This completes the installation and you can see the DataServices listed in Central Management Console. Further configurations are
done in the CMC and console, which will be described in later blogs.

Click on the Data Services above to view the various repositories and details.

Hope you enjoyed reading and liked it.
