Managing business of today is more challenging than ever before. External and internal business environment continue to get influenced by constrained economy, shrinking demand cycles, longer supply chains, and knowledgeable customers—a better control on the supply chain is more than essential. Supply Chain Analytics is therefore an essential resource that provides the business manager a better control over business thru accurate and actionable insights.

Challenge of measuring level of performance of a business processes using a standard definitions that doesn’t allow any scope for differing interpretations of the result, is as critical as is to comparing the level of performance in contrast to well establish benchmarks so as to identify the scope for improvement and stay competitive in this global marketplace.

For the organizations that have transformed and run their business processes on SAP platform and have SAP-BW as the chosen Analytic solution, have a huge gain from the “Business Content” that comes along with the SAP-BW and delivers many pre-configured information models and reporting scenarios, covering all business areas including integrating content from almost all SAP and selected external applications. The models capitalize the well-defined standard measures prescribed in the Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR®) model and therefore help define and measurement on a standard framework.

I and Amol Palekar, another SAP Community member, recognised an opportunity to increase level of value derivation from the Business Content aside from highlighting its relevance to a faster time to market and rapid implementation of Supply Chain Analytics. This was the motivation and basic plot for our book titled “ SCM Analytics with SAP NetWeaver BW”. Contents of this book have been crafted to address the challenges associated with standardization of performance management, its measurement and also the high costs and time in implementation of an analytic solution for this purpose in the most easy format for immediate application for business needs.
