We just wrapped up another PowerWeek for SAP HANA Cloud Platform partners.  This was the second in a series that started a couple of weeks ago. You can read more about the first power week in this separate blog. In this last one, we focused on SuccessFactors extensibility and the SAP HANA Cloud Platform.  In a nutshell these power weeks are like a mini boot camp.  Like previous PowerWeeks, we invited partners who were developing solutions for a specific LoB to come and learn more about how to do it on HCP.  This 3 day workshop was well attended by partners who were taken through HANA Cloud Platform & SuccessFactors.

The structure of this PowerWeek was quite similar to the first, in that it was simultaneously hosted on two continents, North America & Europe.  This one took place from 4/19 – 4/21.  It was organized by the Partner Solution Center & ISV’s team and support from HCP Product Management (where yours truly is from), SuccessFactors Product Management, Cloud Developer Experience, & Rapid Innovations Group.  A great teaming up of efforts to bring product vision, knowledge, and experience to the partners.

The workshop consisted of both learning material and hands-on exercises that covered the SuccessFactors solution and its extension capabilities, focusing next on how SAP HANA Cloud Platform took the extension story to the next level.  That is, there was a look into contrasting between SuccessFactors MetaData Framework extension and HANA Cloud Platform extension, and how they are complimentary.  In the past, this was quite often a point of miscommunication, of how to leverage both of these capabilities.  Through samples, we showed that both could be used.  Exploring cases when MDF made sense, when HCP made sense, and how a combination of both could enrich the overall solution to simplify creating a comprehensive extension.

In addition, attendees were taken through detailed examples of how to integrate multiple systems or connect to existing SAP landscapes.  Learning more details about how some of the pieces that they were already aware of, like HANA Cloud Connector and HANA Cloud Integration fit together in the HCP story.

They learned how an extension is provisioned and consumed.  We were able to clarify with them the flexibility of our various deployment models that allowed them to run an extension application they want.

Furthermore, the hands-on exercises, took them through an end to end scenario, exploring the tools commonly used for extension scenarios.  As a part of this practice, it was demonstrated how frictionless it was to create and embed an extension built on SAP HANA Cloud Platform back into HCP.

Key take aways from this PowerWeek: Partners are now very knowledgeable about SAP HANA Cloud Platform and are ready to take their engagement to the next level, meaning they’re excited about learning about more than just integrations, but also how these integrations can actually create opportunities for entirely new solutions;  we love hearing from you and learning about your use cases, partners are out and learning where the specific needs are and we from the SAP HANA Cloud Platform want to empower you with tools to build solutions for customized needs; the mixture of lectures and hands are in a Goldilocks state, it was just about right – partners learned and saw it in practice.
