New Material on SAP Portal Content and Site Management by OpenText

Since Q4 2011 we have two new applications available in the Portal portfolio:

SAP Portal Content Management by OpenText helps you streamline content management processes by integrating content with the workflows and resources available in the SAP NetWeaver Portal component. It improves the efficiency of content creation, management, and storage processes while supporting user collaboration and communication.
SAP Portal Site Management application by OpenText helps you run one or multiple portals with comprehensive, integrated Web content management (WCM). You can improve content authoring and editing, incorporate unstructured content into workflows, and streamline translation and information reuse.

Start of Beta Program of On Demand Portal

On Demand Portal is a project for a cloud-based solution that enables business users to create easily on demand sites with structured and unstructured content.
Our beta program for on demand portal is planned to start in Q1 2012. Due to an overwhelming interest from our customers and partners we’ve closed the nomination for the private beta. The beta customers will get to implement their desired business scenarios and provide their feedback at an early stage during the development phase. One example for a great collaboration with a beta customer is Jan Penninkhof, an SAP Mentor from Phoqus, who initially met the on demand portal team in TechEd Madrid and already started to design with the team a unique business scenario. We’re also happy to announce that Jan will participate in the upcoming DKOM Tel-Aviv, Israel.

In addition to the beta program we’re initiating the Design Partner Council (DPC) activity for interested customers and partners who wish to learn more about on demand portal solution. By participating in the Design Partner Council you will get the opportunity to influence future development of the product, provide feedback on design topics directly to the product team and in addition share ideas, solutions and best practices within an ecosystem of similar SAP customers and partners. The forum will meet on a monthly basis where we plan to share demos, preview future planning and get your feedback on the discussed topics.

How You can Use the Wiki and Forum Application of SAP NetWeaver 7.3 in a SAP NetWeaver 7.0 Portal

This is a scenario which is often asked for by customers: They want to use the new wiki application or the new forum features, but they do not want to upgrade their whole Portal scenario to SAP NetWeaver 7.3.

A new how-to guide describes how to integrate the forum and wiki content from one SAP NetWeaver system to another SAP NetWeaver system in an older release. When the customers have for example the installation of SAP NetWeaver 7.0 including enhancement package 2, they have the possibility to use the features of the wiki and forum application, although they are only available in SAP NetWeaver 7.3.

Sneak Preview of this Year’s Planning

Already now we can give you a sneak preview of our plans and what you can expect in this year. A new project we are working on to bring SAP NetWeaver Portal to the next level of innovation: "Portal on Device", which will make SAP NetWeaver Portal accessible on mobile devices. An official release of this new Portal capabilities is planned for this year. See also this wiki page.

What we also plan are new support packages for Enterprise Workspaces 1.1 and SAP Portal Content and Site Management by OpenText. And the release to custo mer of "On Demand Portal" is planned for mid-2012.
