Hi All,

Just installed BPC 10.1 SP 1 ramp-up for MS(did a upgrade on BPC 10.0 SP16, just hit upgrade, worked like a charm) and felt like a kid waiting for it to finish so I could look and find all at the new cool features/layout.

Ok let's start with the admin client, I can't see any difference at all, I was actually expecting the admin interface to be via the web in 10.1 (at least that is what SAP representatives have told me). Still opening excel when you modify dimensions... I hope it won't crash if you have a separate excel client open when processing dimensions....huge disappointment

If we take a look at the new web interface... first impression is that when you arrive it looks a bit to grey and like a phone application for me. I hope the variance analysis will work now, will come back on that one when I have time to test it. Earlier you could change theme to a more fancy colorful one, now you got standard and high contrast... but this might be changed

I know it's popular to talk mobile today, but let's face it, who will do planning/consolidation on a mobile device?, reporting is another thing, dashboard designer on mobile devices could be cool....

A thing that have really changed is the Processes... I feel totally lost....you have a nice progress bar per process where you can see how many entities that have completed the process. I still can't sort my processes, they end up in random order just like in 10.0, not even in alphanumerical order do they appear....

We use processes for all data input/imports. I don't really understand how this is working now.... maybe I need to give it some time to understand how we should apply this changed functionality....

Sorry SAP but I have to say that I expected much more(especially with the administration)... I know it's a ramp-up but I also guess that the main functionality and look is there and there's just some bug fixing left...

Will continue to test and learn when I got more time, please keep in mind that all this is my personal thoughts and impressions...

continued to run some tests, less confused now with the processes, the Variance Analysis looks to work with some fiddling around. The web reports starts to be really nice to use, maybe something that will be really useful. That's all for now... guess I needed some playing around to get used to the new interface.... more will come when I get more time

Some days ago I showed my responsible for the legal reporting(consolidation) how the 10.1 looked and worked like... I showed her the first web page you come to and her first impression was similar to mine.... she reflected on the BPF's that they are shown as all without selecting which period you are working with, you see all processes mixed in whatever time period that have been used... have someone asked for a change from 10.0? We haven't ...

Ok enough of bad things... I think 10.1 will be a nice thing for end customers... 10.0 was good enough in my opinion there where just some errors that should've(will be) fixed.. the technical part to change to HTML5 did not have to include changes of behaviours with for example BPF's in our opinion. We will do a end - to - end test in mid june including intercompany matching, consolidation and full test of processes and give our feedback then....

I believe that the BPF process have to change to meet business requirements, I think there was a lack of understanding of that usage before since not many companies used it...

Most of my issues I had have now been solved in BPC 10.1 SP2 Patch 1, so I will go ahead and upgrade.....
