There are a number of options available for existing SAP Business Planning and Consolidation (BPC) customers to convert their older BPC investments into the current BPC 10 version for Netweaver and BPC on HANA offerings. Please read below for a short summary of the conversion options available.
Migrating from BPC Microsoft to BPC NetWeaver versions:
- Migrating from BPC 70/75 Microsoft to BPC 75 NetWeaver:
There had been external migration tools available, but even with the migration there was still a significant rebuild effort due to script logic and data manager package differences. In the past SAP had provided support for this migration scenario, however this service has been phased out over time. A number of partners were certified by SAP and received access to this tool after successfully completing the prerequisite training.
- Migrating from BPC 70/75 Microsoft to BPC 10 NetWeaver (including BPC 10 on HANA):
There are no direct migration tools and a project rebuild is recommended (potentially you could migrate first to BPC 75 NetWeaver then migrate the new BPC 75 NetWeaver application to BPC 10, but that is not a recommended high value scenario due to the two required conversion steps).
- Migrating from BPC 10 Microsoft to BPC 10 NetWeaver (including BPC on HANA):
No migration tools currently available.
Migrating from BPC NetWeaver to BPC NetWeaver versions:
- Migrating form BPC 75 NetWeaver to BPC 10 NetWeaver (including BPC on HANA):

- Migrating form BPC 10 NetWeaver to BPC on HANA:
Migration tools are self-contained within delivered BPC 10 NetWeaver functionality (see delivered program: BPC_HANA_MIGRATE_FROM_10). There are several system parameters that may be activated to allow BPC to utilize the HANA database more effectively; the following guide provides detailed information on which parameters must be selected for activation: SBOP Plan & Consol 10.0 NW Installation Guide , specifically section 3.6 “Installing the SAP HANA Component for Planning and Consolidation”.
