A few days back my colleague Stephanie Morgan, the community manager for SAP HCM Exchange Jam group shared a key report with me. The report was about the content consumption details of about 100 solution consultants and solution engineers we trained on the Hybrid Integration strategy and road map. She analysed the data and gave me insight into which solution consultants have accessed the road map presentation, the training presentation, the administration guide, the portal integration document and so on.

Most colleagues have accessed the training content to study the strategy and road map. Several of them have successfully advised customers on the road map and technology options. Some colleagues have not accessed the content yet. I am sure they will access the content as and when they need it. However, the consumption report gives me and the managers of solution consultants insight into who is ready to participate in customer discussions and who is not yet ready. This key insight is helping us make smart staffing decisions. In cases where a particular colleague is not ready to participate in integration related conversations, we are able to strengthen the pursuit team with integration experts who have taken the time to learn the information.

For example, when I received multiple requests from regional sales managers to participate in integration related conversations, I review the consumption report and verify if the solution consultant in the pursuit team has actually accessed the relevant training material and documents. If they have, I take a back seat and let them present the strategy and recommend the technology options. If they have not, I choose to join the call so that I can help the colleague with the necessary information and point them to the right resources while ensuring that the customer's questions and concerns are addressed.

SAP Jam is helping us staff our pursuits better and provide our customers with the right advisers, thereby increasing the chances of our success. What about the colleagues who have not had a chance to access the content yet? They can count on a gentle nudge from their managers and colleagues outlining the importance of arming themselves with knowledge about SAP SuccessFactors Hybrid integration.
