In the SAP talent management world we're collectively going through a transition from on-premise SAP to SuccessFactors and the cloud. In my opinion most SAP customers will switch to a cloud-based solution for talent management in the next five years. You don't need to be clairvoyant to see that. The switch will require some adjustment in thinking.

My HR2014 presentation is "SAP E-Recruiting or SuccessFactors? A Leading Expert Shares His Thoughts". Note that I didn't choose the word "expert". 🙂

The goal of the session is to help clients determine which solution is right for them, and if you're coming off of SAP E-Recruiting, what should you expect in terms of project, migration, support, etc. If you're not considering SAP E-Recruiting, it will still be useful to understand project and support approach differences with SuccessFactors. SuccessFactors is continually building out the Recruiting Management solution so that what was a big issue last quarter may no longer be an issue this quarter. This is the first time my presentation procrastination has helped me as I based it on the February b1402 release.

Here are some of the things we'll be covering:

  • Comparison of the two solutions across different stages of the recruiting process, including how they work differently.
  • Understanding where opportunities for automation lie with the move to SuccessFactors, or where you may lose functionality, for example:
  • Interview Central in SuccessFactors is very powerful for interview feedback if you use competencies, but you will lose the pre-interview questionnaires of SAP E-Recruiting.
  • Migration options and guidelines, for example:
    • If you have required requisition fields in SuccessFactors, but do not have the data to fill those fields in your legacy recruiting system, you may have to temporarily change the Job Req Data Model XML to make the fields not required, or in the case of picklist drop downs add a "No value" option.
  • Learn what integration options are available.
  • Post go-live differences in supporting solutions; when you will need to use a consultant; opt-in vs universal changes.

As usual there will be a lot of good content at the conference. I look forward to meeting you there!

Cheers, Mark
