Though the term “SoMoLo” sounds like a buzzword, the term was coined because social, mobile, and local is a very serious philosophy for technologies.  Though the word elicits giggles, the truth is that you and your employees do expect everything to be social, mobile and local.  The May release of SuccessFactors HCM Suite is upon us and within the Learning team, we have been working on enhancements for social and mobile learning.

Social learning and collaboration tools can make the workplace more productive and more engaging.  Our new peer-to-peer recommendations enable employees and managers to directly recommend a specific course to a peer or subordinate.  The recommendations will appear in the recommendations tile, and can optionally include a comment about the recommendation.  Additionally, there will be an email newsletter that lists all recommendations (both from the system and peer-to-peer). Peer-to-peer recommendations allow employees to learn from each other so they can contribute more directly to the bottom line.

The top requested mobile features are here – employees now have the ability to browse the catalog and view one’s learning history on the native iPad app.  As more and more employees are doing work and training on the go, this is an especially exciting enhancement.

Additionally, we are welcoming OpenSesame, a leader in online employee training courses, to our Open Content Network (OCN).  You can quickly and easily enable their courses in your Catalog.  And finally, many organizations want the ability to track external links.  Tracking external links allows a customer to take any URL, recommend it to people, and track the number of people who have visited the URL.   This tracking will not be tracked in an individuals’ learning history, but an Admin can see how many people used that link.

Thanks for your continual feedback and support, and we will continue to take your valuable input and ensure our Learning solution exceeds your expectations.
