Check out this video from SAPPHIRE NOW 2014, demonstrating the smart vending concept. ESP was (is) an integral part of this demo. The sensor data coming in from the vending machines flows into ESP, through ESP into SAP HANA, and ESP also monitors the data and automatically opens workorders in Syclo when it detects a problem (eg power failure, temperature consistently out of desired range). And note that ESP, HANA and the rest of the back-end infrastructure for this demo is all running in the cloud.
