Day 2: Wednesday

With all the blogs being published around TechED I will share to you how I am experiencing TechED Las Vegas as a speaker (PMC 235: TechED 2010 session PMC235 - Petrobras: SAP NetWeaver Portal as an Application Portal).

BI212:  Featured the tools BOBJ and SAP are offering and the basic architecture and links between them and the flow to show data: from a query to the portal. He talked about BI Queries and when to use one. The focus was more on the BI stuff (queries) and not on publishing to end-users (portal).

CD211: Introduction to the several development option and what BSP is and how it works(architecture, logic, security). Nice demo: walkthrough, from the page creation to the final version. What was missing: the logon screen, drawbacks from using BSP in regards to AJAX and how you can support more than just Blackberry devices.

Meeting: Talk with Vitaly and others from SAP Israel (Portal). These guys are interested in seeing and learning from customer experiences.

EXP221: Then lunch and straight to the EXP with Aviad about Enterprise Workspaces (EWS). I had a constructive talk with him and I believe that EWS is going into the right direction. As Marilyn wanted to meet me, I went to:

EXP273: The C5 were preparing their session and Marilyn and I combined that I will have to show up at another session (Meet the Moderators). During the C5 talk I met Marlos – a fellow from SIT Sao Paulo - and we talked for quite some time about our TechED experience and what we think about some topics (C5, Mobile, BPM, River, Gateway). We had to finish to get to our follow up sessions, but there was the stragically perfect places SAP shop in our way … and we spend some money (we are SAP geeks, what can I say?).

PMC250: ASUG Influence, but someone changed to room and didn`t bother in informing the late arrivals, so I searched a few minutes finding the room and met again the folks from Sweetlets. We have the same agenda, or? Guy talked about the next release and gave some great insight about what we can expect (and what not):
External Facing Portal (EFP), Content translation, EWS, WPC, TCO, Performance, Administration.
Conclusion: The folks from SAP Portal know the main pain points from their clients and are focused to resolve these issues with 7.3.
