When accepting the invitation to become co-lead for the Pride@SAP’s participation in the 45th annual San Francisco Pride event, I had no idea how rewarding this role would be. Not only am I a proud member of the LGBT community, but also an even prouder employee of a company that encourages their employees to be exactly who they are.

This will be the first time SAP is participating in the Pride Parade, and my first year marching in the San Francisco event. Why now, you might ask? I decided to march in this year’s parade because I wanted to be more active in the LGBT community. This is an incredible opportunity to represent SAP, an awesome company that celebrates diversity in the work place. SAP will also be marching in the Berlin Pride event on June 27th.

The Pride Parade is a place where the LGBT community, and all of its supporters, can come together and march alongside like-minded people. These folks have lived through it, and best of all, “get it.” It’s an enriching experience that brings people together from all walks of life, to celebrate and take a stand on equality.

This year, SAP Silicon Valley is thrilled to announce that we will #RunProuder in style by marching alongside a “cable car on wheels” while handing out fun SAP Schwag! We are also overjoyed to welcome Pride@SAP North America’s newly crowned executive sponsor Jenny Dearborn to march with us as our SAP contingent grand marshal!

The event will take place on Sunday, June 28th in San Francisco, and the parade kicks-off at 10:30 a.m. We will march down Market Street from Beale to 8th with our commemorative Pride shirts. Currently, there are over two hundred employees, friends, family and allies signed up for this event, proving that SAP employees are passionate about Running Prouder!

I want to thank everyone on the Pride@SAP team who has helped with preparing for the event, and all who have signed-up to march and show Silicon Valley, and the world, that SAP Runs Prouder. I look forward to seeing all of you at the event.
