Hold on tight. For businesses and industries of every stripe, the remaining part of this decade will move at a fast and furious pace. For those that are prepared, the rewards and opportunities of the digital revolution will be enormous. For those who cannot – or will not – roll with the changes, the message is clear: your days are numbered.

At the Business Transformation Summit (BT Summit) on October 22-23 in St. Leon-Rot, Germany, top industry executives, leading academics and entrepreneurs will discuss the opportunities and perils of digital transformation and how companies can position themselves to thrive in an age of opportunity.

"In this rapidly changing environment, companies have to move fast. They have to make a lot of quick, non-linear decisions. And that takes the right kind of transformation partner," explains Lars Gollenia, Global Head of SAP Business Transformation Services. "By helping companies experiment early with iterative methodologies like design thinking, we can help them build repeatable successes to quickly reap rewards."

Those rewards, however, will come to those who are ready to take action now. Within the next five years, experts estimate that smart devices will outnumber humans by fifteen to 1. Digital technology will influence almost every aspect of our lives–from smart phones, smart homes and smart cars to smart wearables, smart appliances and smart embeddables. The data generated by these devices promises to help businesses understand customers and get closer to them than ever before. Companies who have embraced advanced technologies like SAP S/4 HANA, for example, are already enjoying a critical head start in being able to manage terabytes of data.

In 2020, however, success will depend on much more than rich data. The ability to innovate new business models on demand will also become a permanent requirement. A quick look at these innovative new trends show how smart companies are constantly looking for unexpected ways to rethink and reinvent themselves:
  • AirBnB will soon be booking more rooms than the world’s largest hotel chains.
  • Citigroup sponsors a bikesharing system in New York City.
  • BMW now offers carsharing.
Of course, the most important new innovation is still waiting to be discovered–yours. That’s what this year’s BT Summit is all about: harnessing digital transformation to come up with innovative products and services that generate new demand and profits. But you won’t find that next best idea by being a spectator on the sidelines. You’ll find it being an active player at this year’s summit. Join us and register today.
