The summit commenced with a welcome note by Mr DilipKumar Khandelwal ,MD,Sap Labs India .
In the key note ,Mr Stephen Ries,Chief HR officer at SAP, laid stress on why we should have women in leadership and why diversity does matter.
He shared the intriguing statistics that German and Asian women are underrepresented in the corporate world as well as top leadership.
Apart from the video ,which focused on the views of many top successful women all around the world,he also cited the example of German Chancellor ,Dr Angela Merkel and how she has acted like a female lighthouse leader ,a fact nobody can disagree with.In his words,"Its not about being different ,Its about making a difference."
In the succeeding keynote,Ms Monica Aggarwal,VP ,IBM India SDL talked about "Who is making the choice?"
She laid stress on a cliche we all know but have to agree "The only thing constant is change ".Some very powerful game changing and inspiring thoughts from her were-"Dont sit and wait for opportunities,Go and Get them " because "Growth and comfort do not co-exist"
She gave a valuable piece of advice to everybody -"Go back ,sit ,contemplate and write your resume ,not for a job,but what you learnt over the year and what next do you want to learn and become".The takeaway- "Be yourself ,since intimidation is only in your mind".
Ms Mythily Ramesh ,Co-Founder & CEO, NextWealth Entrepreneurs Pvt Ltd,talked about the Next generation Technology ,Entrepreneurship ,key future trends,the smoking hot concept of "Internet of me",the effect and influence of disruptive technologies in today's world, summed up in the apt acronym- SMAC" -SOCIAL ,MOBILE, ANALYTICS and CLOUD.On a personal aspect ,she guided the women workforce facing challenges in terms of managing work and life by saying -"Focus on quality time spent with your family and children and make the most of it".She also told how her 2 sons ,who are beyond their teens now,never felt that their mom did not spend enough time with them,though she has been working for over 2 decades.
There was a Demo on McLaren F1 Race Car- Powered by HANA, by Ms Deepti Lakshmi from SAP Labs,depicting women in action as well.
Ms Maya Vidhya,GM, Microsoft India GTSC talked about clear days on cloud.She focussed on the Go to Market strategy by Microsoft by elaborating facts and concepts on "What is different as we move to the cloud ?"She expressed her thoughts and ideas on how a change in business model can help the customers .
Ms Sukla Chandra, General Manager at GE Global Research,gave interesting insights on Tech Trends and Intellectual Property ,basically how Patents or "IP CAN MAKE OR BREAK A PRODUCT" .Through her discourse ,she depicted the directly proportional relation between Patenting Trends and Technology trends.She quoted hilarious examples on how everyone in the business and technology arena is suing everyone and how all can co exist and support one another.She concluded with an example of how Dolby Technology gained supremacy in the world of Patents by effectively utilizing business strategy and monetization.
Ms Shruti Jain, Section Manager in HP,gave an enriching speech on the emerging trends in Mobility and how it is changing the way of life.
She said that mobility has replaced more things in life that we are aware of ,some of them being computers,alarm clocks,watches,TV ,computers etc.She also briefed about the security aspect and how "Free Hi -Fi can come at the cost of immense and important data loss".She focused on Mobility changing Economics by citing examples of Lyft,Urban Clap,Pillow and Kitchit etc and how it has totally transformed our lives.
She concluded by talking about democratizing innovation and how many of the villages in our country which couldn't be connected by a wired network ,now access Internet through mobile phones.
A demo of "Run Mummier " App by our very own Ms K Bhagyalakshmi also focused on how "Gender Parity makes economic sense".
A very informative and breakthrough session on "Distribute Computing and Rack scale Architecture " by Ms Mrittika Gangulifrom Intel followed this.
Taking a break from the glamorous world of software and apps,she took us to the less flashy yet extremely important land of hardware and how it is changing rapidly with the introduction of "Desegregated architectures ".She spoke about microservices,the various challenges ,IaaS orchestration frameworks and "How Software maps into hardware elements?"
At tea time ,everybody enjoyed "A sip of technology " with Nidhi Gupta ,Product Manager at Google,in conversation with Sadaf Shakil.
Nidhi expressed her views on Cloud Productivity and trends and told how the times have changed from "Mobile first to Mobile Only ".She took the example of the very popular "Angry birds" game app to study user experience and cognitive science.
The final session was on "Microservices and the future in Business " by Ms Priyanka Porwal from SAP Labs ,laying emphasis on how applications are being built as a suite of services running in their own process ,independently deployed and communicating with each other using lightweight mechanisms.
Everybody echoed the fact that it should not be a one off event but a sustainable program involving more people .
The attendees had a lot of learning and insights to take back to their desks,home or minds and also a brand new ,fresh perspective on how we can energize ourselves and make it count ,reiterating the keynote quote -"Its not about being different ,but making a difference".
