A Note from Me to You:

Something very strange happened to me this August; this was the very first August of my life that I wasn’t returning back to school. My formal education for better or worse has come to an end however, the learning and exploring hasn’t stop. I am constantly learning from my peers and my job as you are by attending one of our many events. This month we conducted 6 events in 6 different cities in 3 different countries. It is because of developers like you that we are able to conduct these events, spread the knowledge, grow, and explore, so cheers to that!

Where Have We Been?

Topic of the Month: SAP Lumira

SAP CodeJam is designed to focus on a single topics at a time, allowing participants to get familiar with one specific SAP platform or technology at a time. This month our events focused on four different topics:

  • SAP Lumira
  • SAP HANA Cloud Integration
  • SAP HANA Cloud Platform
  • ABAP for SAP HANA

Getting to Know the Experts: Rahul Tiwari and Anirudh Nagesh

Rahul Tiwari and Anirudh Nagesh conducted their very first CodeJam at Bhubaneshwar, India this past month and hope to do several more in the coming years.

Both Tiwari and Nagesh like being SAP CodeJam experts because not only do they get to share their knowledge on SAP Lumira but they also get the opportunity to learn themselves.

Tiwari, who joined SAP six years back in 2009 stated, “We had participated in similar events in the past but this event is different. We got to interact with students and they have this great enthusiasm to learn. It was very encouraging to see how people use the technology and it is a double advantage because we get see how the product works outside the proximity.”

Nagesh, who joined SAP two years back in 2013 stated, “It’s a bit serious to be called an expert because I am not sure how qualified I am, but it feels nice. It was nice to interact with the students, it made us feel like we were back in college. These events also act as a feedback; we get to see the how users (students) use the product which gives us a good idea of what works and what doesn’t.”

When asked to share an interesting tip about SAP Lumira, they stated that, “It doesn’t matter if you are a student or an engineer, SAP Lumira is very easy to use. All you need to get started is an Excel spreadsheet, upload it onto SAP Lumira and analyze your data using the various charts you can create or turn your data into a storyboard, presentation, or infographic.”

Fun Fact: Tiwari likes to imitate people. “I like to observe people and try to understand how people are and I also do some stand-up comedy.”

Nagesh loves to eat, “I am a foodie but when I eat too much I get a bad stomach, so it is like a contradiction.”

Not sure what SAP CodeJam is?

SAP CodeJam is a 5 to 6 hours event where a small group of developers get together for an afternoon of networking, learning, and coding in an ultra-casual environment all for free. Attendees get a chance to share and expand their knowledge and collaboratively develop with SAP technologies, platforms and tools under the watchful guidance of an expert. The events are developer community focused and supported by SAP, exploring technologies available through the SAP Developer Center.
