Having thoroughly enjoyed my first TechEd speaking experience in Las Vegas last year, I am very happy to be invited back to present ASUG Session ANP212 Working Magic with the New M Mode for SAP BusinessObjects Design Studio. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank tammy.powlas3 for her encouragement.
By way of background, I am active in the SAP BusinessObjects Design Studio space where I enjoy writing about topics of interest in the Design Studio Innovation Series and participating in the Design Studio SDK Development Community. In the SAP Analytics and Business Intelligence world, there is certainly a lot of buzz around Design Studio and Lumira these days. SAP's commitment to the Fiori Design has been reinforced with the introduction of a new "M Mode" for developing BI applications with components based on the SAPUI5 m library (sap.m) or Main library as it is also known. This presentation focuses on a practical approach with the inclusion of two demos in this context.

Overview
I'll start with a brief review of the new M Mode for Design Studio and future direction, before moving onto the fun stuff in the more practical demos.
Demo 1 - Fiori-style M Mode Analytic App with Launchpad
The first demo highlights some of the new Fiori-style standard components, complemented by M Mode compatible components from the SDK Development Community Library. We'll take a look at how to take advantage of M Mode combined with bookmarking functionality to build an application that allows users to create and share visualisations through a commonly accessible catalogue, with the capability to personalise their own launchpad by pinning selections from the catalogue.

Demo 2 - Eliminating Complexity: Wizardry at Work with Code-free Design
The second demo presents a unique SDK case study of an extension designed exclusively for M Mode, addressing a common request that comes up in discussions, which is the need for a non-technical approach to building apps with Design Studio that doesn't relyon script or style sheet coding. Here are two specific examples of such requests to put this into perspective:
Question: “Is there any strategy in future to build Design Studio Dashboards without writing scripts…because users like DS format and features…when it comes to self-service, it’s too complex.”
