Hi all,

After discovering of the Announcement of SAP Portal and HANA Cloud Portal Gamification Movie Challenge I watched the following video on YouTube:

I chose to review this video as I have recently joined SAP, and I am taking every opportunity to try and familiarize myself with SAP's expanding product and service catalog. I have learned of the basic principles of SAP HANA since joining the company, however I have yet to learn of the full capabilities of HANA in this particular area, and so I thought it would be fitting to review this video as it provides a general overview of SAP HANA Cloud Portal.

The video begins with the presentation of a short statement about the importance of accelerating "time-to-value" and increasing "business agility". This statement is coupled with an image of a tablet, laptop, and smartphone, each displaying the same website on their respective screens. I think that this is a highly effective way of presenting the viewer with a rapid insight into the basic idea behind SAP HANA Cloud Portal, and why one may choose to use it. The idea of business agility is reinforced by the image, as it shows a variety of devices that are used by the majority of modern businesses.

This formula of presenting a statement along with an image is one which is followed throughout the video. It is used as an effective way to present the main features of SAP HANA Cloud Portal:

  • Fast
  • Open
  • Connected
  • Powerful
  • Rich

The viewer is quickly presented with a short, succinct overview of the capabilities of SAP HANA Cloud Portal, without being bombarded with information. I feel that this is key in any short video, as it enables the viewer to watch the video through, yet still retain the information presented to them whilst viewing.

The short statements and images are also coupled with a lively backing track which compliments the flowing visuals. The overall dynamic nature of the video could be seen as being representative of the how "fast" and "connected" SAP HANA Cloud Portal truly is.

The video concludes with a list links to the SAP official website, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, thus encouraging the viewer to carry out further research if desired. Personally, I was intrigued by the video and took the time to visit each of these links after viewing it to see what they would offer, so I think it is fair to say that it had the desired effect on me!

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog, and I hope you enjoyed getting a little insight from my perspective.
