As you may have heard, there is a new upcoming openSAP course about extending SAP Products with HANA cloud platform and HANA cloud Portal.
Have a look in the following link for more information:  https://open.sap.com/courses/hanacloud3

One great solution is extending SuccessFactors by creating an extension site over HANA cloud Portal.

This solution already works in productive systems for quite a while but in order to enable it for the openSAP course students we had to enable it also in the HANA cloud platform Trial landscape.

A quick glance of how it looks like:

For more detailed information you can enroll the Extending SAP Products with SAP HANA Cloud Platform openSAP course.

Please bare in mind that the SuccessFactors look and feel on Trial landscape is only to get a general overview of the real solution and thus there are few limitations:

  • Hybrid page template is not supported.
    Therefore: when you select SuccessFactors extensions template, you should use it for the entire site.

  • Your trial system does not link directly to a SuccessFactor system.
    Therefore:
    Any SuccessFactor widgets in the page template – such as the Module Picker or the SuccessFactor icon – will be linked to the Cloud Portal Site Directory rather than to a SuccessFactors system.

  • The SuccessFactors site theme is "hard coded".
    Therefore:
    The theme cannot inherit changes made to the theme on the source SuccessFactors system.
    In addition, you cannot apply a Cloud Portal theme to a site that includes pages with the SuccessFactors page template.  Clicking any of the available Cloud Portal themes in the Design Settings panel will reapply the SuccessFactors theme.

  • The user name in header and module picker links are fixed.
    In case you want to change them to display a custom user name and links a destination should be configured in the following way:

    #Password=<< Existing password removed on Export >>
    Type=HTTP
    TrustAll=true
    Authentication=BasicAuthentication
    Name=sap_hcmcloud_core_odata
    CloudConnectorVersion=1
    ProxyType=Internet
    URL=https\://sfsfbizxtrial.hana.ondemand.com/odata/v2/
    User=<<UserId>>

  • Import page not fully supported.

  • Page Hierarchy Menu not supported.

  • Consumption via smartphone is not supported.
