On June 4-5, there was a HANA-related event in Germany called “In-memory Computing Conference 2012 (IMCC 2012)”. I found about the event after the fact but I was surprised at the quality and breadth of presentations. After looking on SCN and on Twitter for reactions from the usual HANA influencers and other members of the broader HANA community, I decided that a quick blog about the event to bring it to the attention of a broader audience might be useful.

The event took place over two days and the sessions covered a variety of topics including Architecture, Use with BW, Use in B1, etc. What impressed me was the wide variety of customers and partners who described their experiences with HANA at the event. Although increasing in number on a daily basis, such real-life references are critical for the acceptance of HANA amongst existing SAP customers.

Although the site and most of the presentations are in German, you can still get some idea of the topics even if you aren’t a German speaker. You can actually download many of the presentations after a free registration. There are also various recorded video streams. The video that I found most interesting was “Extreme Applications – neuartige Lösungen mit der SAP In-memory Technologie“ from Xiaoqun Clever, Corporate Officer, SAP AG Senior Vice President, TIP Design & New Applications, President of SAP Labs China” – it provided some new terminology regarding the HANA AppCloud that I hadn’t heard before.
