The SAP HANA Innovation Award is designed to honor customers that are using SAP HANA to drive innovation and deliver business value. This is the second year of the award. In 2014  we received 27 nominations from 15 countries. I am so proud of the fantastic response to the award in 2015.  We asked customers to submit and partners to submit on behalf of their customers to share their transformative stories of SAP HANA innovation in three categories – real‐time analytics, process simplification, and technology innovation focused on Big Data and the Internet of Things. Within each of these categories, submissions were evaluated in two streams. We received and published almost 50 entries from 31 countries on the HANA innovation award website.

Thank you to every one of you that participated and through the program, the world is getting to know the extraordinary ways that you are driving innovation with SAP HANA.  Moreover The Hope Foundation, Doctors without Borders, and The Acumen Fund have received $62,000 donation to helping to make a difference to the world.

The judging comprised of 2 rounds public voting to select the finalists and evaluation of finalist by an expert panel. More than 18,000 votes were cast over the course of 8 days to determine top three finalists in each category. We then asked an expert panel of judges from SAP, Intel, SAP user groups, industry analysts, and the SAP HANA community to evaluate the 19  finalists in each category to determine the category winners and runners‐up. The judges scored each finalists using the following 6 criteria:

  1. Human Impact of HANA
  2. Innovative Use case
  3. Use of SAP HANA capabilities (IT architecture and key features)
  4. Business or social value achieved or expected
  5. Contribution to IT’s priorities
  6. Degree to which the entry exemplified the entry category
  7. Before the final scores were tallied to determine the winners each finalist received points proportionate to the number of public votes received.

All finalists and winners were invited to an award ceremony on May 5th at SAPPHIRENOW to celebrate the remarkable achievements. It was an exciting event where we celebrated the extraordinary ways that customers are innovating with SAP HANA platform to transform and simplify businesses. Congratulations once again to all our winners and finalists
