Even in this virtual, always connected world, the opportunity to get together face-to-face is always a worthwhile investment and very impactful.  Members of the SAP Public Services and Healthcare (PS&H) team from all over the world, as well as some of our Partners, descended to The Hague in the Netherlands for the SAP 2014 Public Services and Healthcare Summit during the first week in May.  This conference allowed the SAP PS&H team and our Partners, to share experiences, learn, and ultimately to build pipeline, accelerate deals, and enable sales.  It also offered inspiration and many occasions to meet colleagues and SAP leaders for the first time to lay the foundation for more lasting and substantial working relationships.

For the SAP Healthcare team, we began with a customer presentation from Dr. Luis Albornoz of the Fundacion Valle del Lili in Colombia, with a great story demonstrating the power of one integrated clinical, administrative, and financial system.  Dr. Albornoz started his presentation with something that we all know, that these successes could never be done without Partners, with this case being, CompuNet.  Then we went to the Healthcare Value Map with presentations about optimizing operations and streamlining healthcare delivery with our SAP for Healthcare solutions.  We discussed selling cloud solutions to healthcare providers, as well as introducing our newest solutions – Genomic Analyzer, Medical Insights, and Patient Relationship Management.  Then we closed the healthcare track by hearing from our 4 regional General Managers about what closes deals in their region, some best practices, and how the SAP healthcare community and partners can help.  The Healthcare team also led Birds of a Feather lunch discussions about Personalized Medicine and we had a number of healthcare partner booths and live demo theaters from CommonMS, Atos, T-Systems, OpenText, and Siemens.

In our heavily matrixed organization, this means that I also work with Marketing and Communications colleagues that either represent our various regions or are members of the global PS&H Marketing and Communications team.  We were fortunate to be able to get together for lunch and a boat cruise before the official meetings started, to do some team building, as well as to discuss regional marketing priorities and how to best collaborate.  As we knew that once the Summit began, we wouldn’t get this dedicated time together again.  We also had a PS&H Marketing and Comms booth at the event where we were able to show and tell people what we do - https://documents.wdf.sap.corp/share/proxy/alfresco//api/node/content/workspace/SpacesStore/b49c865c... We had no idea about the organizational announcements that would come last week so it was nice to be surrounded by colleagues amidst these changes as we continue to simplify and inspire innovation in healthcare.
