October is a busy month for healthcare-watchers. In the US alone, calendars are marked to commemorate National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Patient-Centered Care Awareness Month, and National Physical Therapy Month. There are more health-related issues than there are days of the year, but the problem is not intractable.
Big Data, cloud computing, and mobile devices play a pivotal role in healthcare, and SAP has been working with its healthcare partners to ensure the topic stays in the spotlight. So this October will see SAP leaders playing a significant role in this effort at two key events.
October 12: World Health Summit 2015, Berlin
The World Health Summit has grown into the world’s most prominent forum for addressing global health issues. It brings together key leaders from academia, politics, civil society, and the private sector to address the most pressing health-related challenges on the planet. Among the central topics on the agenda are: Climate Change and Health; Global Health Policy and Governance in the G7 and G20 Countries; and Digital Health.
SAP CFO and member of the Executive Board Luka Mucic will deliver a speech at this prestigious annual event attended by thousands of luminaries from the fields of health and medicine, government representatives, as well as Nobel Prize winners. Luka’s responsibilities extend beyond SAP’s corporate finance function; he is also deeply involved in the company’s disruptive corporate innovation processes.

October 14: SAP Personalized Medicine Symposium, Palo Alto
This day-long symposium will bring together healthcare and technology experts from various fields to discuss the opportunities and challenges of personalized medicine, which aims to provide better and faster care to everyone while also lowering healthcare costs.Technology is the enabler of this vision: through data-driven methodologies, healthcare professionals can give patients personalized treatment options – basically putting patients at the center of care where they belong.
